Dear parents,
I am considering Katong Convent Primary for my daughter and would like to find out if you think it is essential that I move closer (within 1km) to the school. While I live in the East Coast, I am currently not within the radius, but open to moving closer if essential for getting a place. We will fall under phase 2C and are Singaporeans.
Look forward to hearing from knowledgeable parents out there!
Thank you. -

Try to improve chances by being a PV? i.e. phase 2B. Historically no balloting for phase 2B if I did not remember wrongly.Dear parents,

I will struggle with PV so just trying to assess if phase 2C is an option and whether I need to be within 1km.
I have the option of putting her in to Marymount Convent under Phase 2A but it is a bit of a trek from the East! Also Katong Convent has an affiliated secondary school. -
Dear Parents
We recently moved house to Queenstown. We are SC and our first child was born in 2013 and will be registering for P1 next year. As both parents do not have any affiliation, we will be in Phase 2C. We have the following schools to consider:
Queenstown Pri (within 1km)
Gan Eng Seng (1-2km)
Alexandra Pri has better reviews but it is >2km.
Can I seek some advise on the following options:
A) Apply for Alexandra Primary in Phase 2C. If unsuccessful, apply for Queenstown Primary in Phase 2CS which is walking distance but may risk not getting in / or may need to ballot.
B) Apply for Queenstown Primary in Phase 2C which is high chance of success as we are within 1km and it is less popular among the primary schools in the area.
Would appreciate any parents who can share views or advice as we are new to the area. Thanks! -

Based on historical statistics, you will only be wasting your Phase 2C chance if you decide to go for Option 1. Alexandra Primary only had places for SCs staying within 1 km for the last couple of years. Hence, you won't even have the chance to ballot, let alone worry about the balloting outcome.Dear Parents

Thanks qms for the reply. How about GES vs QtPS? Which one would u recommend for Phase 2C?

Another member posted this in the Bt Merah thread:maxbear:
...My teacher friend who lives infront of QT said that the principal of QT was her primary school principal, and her colleague at MOE hq says that their school program is quite established.
...
GES, I like that they have taekwondo, and their teacher's profile on the site looks really fun. The principal was transferred from a very good sch. -
Hello Everyone,
My boy will be fall in the 2020 in-take.
I have dilemma in my decision.
We stay in TPY, and it happened that my DH is alumni of HPPS.
Distance b/w our house to HPPS is more than 10km. So far i have checked with the appointed school bus service, there is no bus service around my area to HPPS.
While it is possible to send my boy to school in the morning, fetching him in the afternoon is a challenge.
Also if there are days whereby my DH cannot send DS to school, it will be also an issue.
Should i continue to consider HPPS ?
Other options i am considering MSHS ( 2C - but outside 2km)
Backup option KCS ( 2C- within 1KM)
What are the available transport options i have if i remain to stay in TPY and opt for HPPS ?
Care to share with me your point of view ? :imdrowning:
