Henry Park overflow during 2A1, any reason it is so hot this year?
Not just HPPS, a lot of other schools have a significant increase in 2A1 applicants.
It's a Dragon year, most parents are playing it safe. Since alumni has an opportunity of moving up a phase, why leave it to Phase 2A2 (especially if you are > 2km). -
Temasek Pri Sch… Phase 2B will it be high chance balloting for this yr?? (staying > 2km).

whoever able to get into Nanyang primary last 8 left-over seats via 2A2 balloting this year : are really lucky !
NANYANG left 8 seats for 2A2 not 10.

I had one schoolmate whose mother was the discipline mistress. Most of us avoided being too friendly with her (scared she tell tales to her mother). The child herself was a regular girl with average results and behavior. Not top of the class nor prefect material. Even if she happened to be chosen as prefect, I’m sure somebody would be sour grapes and say nasty things. I think it’s a hard burden for a child to bear.
pity this poor, lonely child, because she won't have many friends in school, because her mom being the strict Disciplinary Master (DM) in school, classmates won't dare to be-friend nor made fun of her daughter, in case she \"da xiao bao gao\" report, to her mom (DM) -

so in a way it is also inconvenient to have the teachers' kids studying in the same school for the reason of access to exam papers. what if the subject HODs themselves have kids studying in the school?
the mother teaching in the school may not teach her own child, or school bar her from setting school exam paper for her child's level, but may still be able to access school exam papers SA1 / SA2 for her child's level, kept inside the school cupboard staffroom : unless the subject HODs in her school make absolutely sure that she literally no access to exam papers, for her child's level -
Principals & the parent-teacher wld not want to teach child in class for multiple reasons (besides gossips).
1. Fairness
2. Avoid distraction fr own child
3. Healthy devpt of child (don’t want child to be clingy)
4. Relief child’s stress fr 24-hr parenting
5. Child get more objective coaching & feedback
It is not easy choice for teachers to hv child(ren) in same school due to social pressure & imagine yr personal life expose to boss & colleagues. Actually wld depend on attitude & perspective of individual how they handle that ‘special’ attention on their child.
DC hv a classmate whose dad was teaching same sch. Very low profile, do not join class chatgrp. S’times I wonder if child not in same school, wld he be more vocal & excel better. Ano fav teacher of DC made a decision to put his son in neigbourhood sch near home so MIL can supervise after school.
The sch VP had his son join him in P1, but a lot of attention given (positive & negative). Shortly, he was transferred out to ano sch. Yes, there was the beloved Disciplinary Master, with his physically impaired son in school. It’s good for father-son access, but he does not teach his son’s level. All the more, other than encouraging classmates to care for each other & help him navigate school compound, he let his son be as independent as possible. At the end of his duties in school late (at times when he leave last when sch gate close), he put his child’s wheelchair in boot & drive him home.
Do u’stand they hv realistic concerns, not all are beneficial. -

if the child does well, people will gossip.
if the child is not, the teacher will feel lousy because his/her colleagues will wonder why and whether the parent is teaching.
so it’s more of a case of inconvenience to have the child in the same school.
I do know of 2 teachers whose kids are in the same school as their parents. -
if mother intend to send their child to the same school that they are teaching in : make sure the child’s behavior and academic results are good, because will become gossip of school, by fellow peer classmates / school mates
