From my experience with the principal and vice principal, they are unable to live up to scrutiny. When I questioned them during a face to face meeting, they are evasive in their replies and refused to acknowledged their mistakes. When emails are sent, their replies are short without addressing the concern. This school is run without transparency.

My daughter was diagnosed with ADHD and the doctor has advised that extra time should be allocated to her during exams. This was brought up to the teachers before the exam. However, during the exams, the teachers forgot and extra time was not given to her.

Brought up my concern to the school and they defended their actions by stating that my daughter managed to finish the paper and therefore do not need the extra time. During the next exam, again, she was again not given the extra time. It took me many attempts and wasted time before I managed to push through this matter for my daughter.

The management in this school merely does things at their convenience. They try very hard not to reveal the truth and they never apologized when they make mistakes. If you don't push hard, they will sweep everything under the carpet.

Your child's welfare is not a priority in this school.
My child is also with special needs and my experience is actually quite the opposite. The school has been accommodative of our suggestion/requests to assist my daughter in her primary school journey. Perhaps she has been blessed with good teachers who have been caring. Hope your daughter has more positive encounters after this. My daughter loves the school and I have not regretted my decision to place her there.

        Hihi,

Does anyone think there's a possibility for ballot in MGS Pri (BT) under next phase 2A(2)?
        Thanks in advance!!

There hasn't been a ballot for this school under phase 2A2 before. Looking at this year's stats, it is unlikely as majority of the old girls would have joined alumni. There are usually left over places to bump up the phase 2B and 2C above the minimum number of 20 spaces for each phase.

        Thanks so much, MommyK!!

Does it mean affiliation will have a better advantage for the new AL system than the current T-score?

          Kittypie,

On and off, Principal of affliated primary schools, do give update to impacted (parents & students) born in 2009 and after : explain how the new AL psle scheme going to work, for affliation pupils.

Since you come under MGS (BT) Phase 2A2 (ex MGS student, years ago), may approach MGS Principal, to clarify :-
whether from 2021 onwards, the affliation Cut-off point for MGS, will be set at or around AL 16 points, Total for 4 subjects ?

because from year 2019 onwards, MOE had announced new changes made :\" 20% must be reserved for Non-affliated pupils\".

          refer press broadcast announcement.
          https://www.todayonline.com/singapore/affiliated-schools-reserve-20-places-non-affiliated-students-2019-moe

Currently, for MGS P6 students to go back study MGS (O-level), the Affliation Cut-off-point is set at 220.

However, not sure whether the current setting of 220 : is or isn't able to meet (accomodate) 2019 new requirement, \"20% reservation for Non-affliated students\" ? If the Answer isn't, then come 2019 : the affliation Cut-off-point under new AL PSLE system, has to be much higher than current 220.

One is able to map backwards : what is the equivalent of T-score 220 ?
To achieve 220 : it means on Average, per subject : P6 student need to score at least 75 marks, and above.

Under the new AL PSLE system :-
if score is 75 marks, for a subject, then score will fall under AL Band ... 4.

Total of 4 subjects will be (4 x 4 subjects ) equal Total 16 AL points.

          refer AL Psle score banding

Anglo-Chinese Junior College : is the affliated Junior College, for All Methodist denomination Secondary schools.

Cut-off-point (COP), for 2017 PSLE batch at MGS primary (born 2005, year of Rooster), for 2018 Secondary 1 intake cohort , the 4th last batch, before AL PSLE implementation system takes over, from 2021

            a)

Integrated (IB Curriculum), International Baccalaureate program Cut-off-point : 260

highest T-score, for IB students admitted : 279

median T-score, for IB students admitted is : 264

            b)

            O-level program Cut-off-point : 254

            highest T-score, for O-level ( Non-afflliated ) students admitted : 263

            median T-score for O-level (Non-affliated) students admitted is : 257

            c)

            O-level program Cut-off-point, through affliation : 220

highest T-score, for O-level (through affliation) students admitted : 262

median T-score for O-level (through affliation) students admitted is : 243

affliation : only applicable for O-level program, Not for IB.

to enjoy affliation privilege : P6 pupil must put MGS at Top of your list, of six Secondary school choices, during S1 posting.

info (MOE SIS : MGS Secondary school code is 7030) -

            http://sis.moe.gov.sg/SchoolDetails.aspx?schoolCode=7030

            DSA, into MGS -

            http://www.mgs.moe.edu.sg/secondary/admissions/direct-school-admission-for-secondary-one-2019

            Currently, discount privilege = 254 (Cut-off-point, for Non-affliated students) - 220 (affliation Cut-off-point), equal 34 points, a huge T-score difference !

              Bubblegumz:

Hello Parents, what are the chances of getting a transfer to MGS? Apart from the school having a vacancy, what other factors do the school look at pls? DD is currently P2. Thanks.

My friend's daughter had transferred successfully, from RGPS (Non-affiated) to MGS (Bukit Timah, affliated to MGS Secondary), after P2 SA2 was over, towards the end of P2. Her (P1, P2) academic results (three P2 subjects are very close to 100, above 95) and behavior (she is a mini P2 prefect) at RGPS are good, and she has the niche Cca that MGS desire.

              WHAT CCA DOES MGS DESIRE?

I know of students who have transferred in because they are very good in tennis, swimming, strings or academically.

I think it may vary from year to year?

golf, harp : also niche Cca, at MGS

One of my friends’ daughter could swim very well. MGS wanted to groom her, in swimming. Friend said every morning must wake up 5 am at her condo pool, do a few lap to train for swimming, fast speed. Friend declined to let her girl wake up so early.
