2018 P1 registration exercise for 2019 intake

Hihi,
Does anyone think there’s a possibility for ballot in MGS Pri (BT) under next phase 2A(2)?
Thanks in advance! -
kittypie:
MGS (BT) left 68 places for 2A2, quite a lot, about two P1 classes, think no need to ballot. Perhaps check past years how many registered roughly for MGS under 2A2 ?Hihi,

MGS (left 68 ) is different from Nanyang : Nanyang, left only few miserable seats, sure to ballot in 2A2 !

Thanks, phtthp!! But think now 2A(2) left 36 only as 68 was applicants in2A(1), if I am not wrong? What are your views again? All views welcome!

Oops sorry, Kittypie ! I saw wrongly, you are correct, left only 36 seats left for 2A2, roughly one P1 class. 36 is not a lot ... might enter balloting at 2A2 for SC living outside 2 km.

you need a backup plan. In the event of possible 2A2 balloting at MGS (BT) this year, under Phase 2B : if you are under Methodist church group, possible for you to enter either into Paya Lebar Methodist primary, or into Fairfield Methodist primary, under 2B ?
If not, under Phase 2C : you may ballot for Raffles Girls primary. RGPS have a lot of seats left ! Must have a backup plan under 2C Supp, if you ballot under 2C Supp : either go Marymount or any CHIJ primary school nearby your house, or any co-ed school less than 1 km, near your house. -

Waterway also has a MK but for some reason, Oasis is more popular.
Both schools' catchment area overlap with Horizon and Mee Toh, as well as Punggol View (another popular school with a very popular MK). I suspect, however, that a significant number of parents may decide the safer option of using MK priority in P2A2, rather than face the uncertainty of balloting in Horizon and Mee Toh (<1km) in a Dragon year.
Not sure if i am right, I think this year Waterway wont be affected by MK as they only have K1 batch?
I stay <1 km to Punggol View but registering at 2C, due to the MK priority this year, i am afraid my twins cant get into Punggol View, so thinking if i should directly register them to Waterway for 2C, for those familiar with Punggol schools, what you think is the chances of Waterway need to ballot for 2C as well? cos if it does, my house fall under 1-2 km  -
phtthp:
Thanks, phtthp! Why you think RGPS so many seats left? Got chance in 2C (SC>2km)? Any affiliation to Secondary school? Thanks again!

Thanks again![/quote]RGPS : under 2B, the number of PV had been well controlled, been capped to a low maximum number. Under 2B : not many grassroot leaders enrolled too. Hence, many seats left behind, for 2C.

SC > 2km : will need to ballot, at RGPS. Forsee that many SC > 2 km will try their luck at RGPS, during MOE computerised balloting, because 2600 new vacancies had been created at ordinary neighbourhood schools across whole of Sg to catch all those, who failed at 2C Balloting. With such a bountiful, abundant pool (2600 extra places) of neighbourhood schools as \"safety\" net, who doesn't want to try their luck balloting at 2C, this year ?
RGPS : NO affliation to RGS. To enter RGS (IP) : need T-score around 261, although your batch come under AL PSLE scheme. Now, how to achieve T-score 261 ? On average, means each of the 4 subjects : must score at least minimum 91 marks and above. For Lower primary (P1 to P3) : getting 91 and above, is not difficult. But come to Upper primary P6 : to score 91 and above, per subject, is not easy, because for languages : too many components, and for P6 (Maths and Science) : can be tough !
Kittypie,
wiser to send your daughter go back to MGS (BT) : safer, because have MGS Secondary school affliation, because under AL PSLE scheme : every subject counts . Next time if your girl want to go RGS Secondary and her 2024 P6 Psle results allow her to do so, still can. But, wiser to go MGS for now, since you under 2A2. Save you a lot of stress and headache preparing PSLE, next time your daughter reach (2023 P5 and 2024 P6) !
Besides, MGS primary have designed their own in-house programme, to stretch her own students in (Maths, Science, English). MGS is a very good school !Those who give up MGS, when they are under 2A2, are not wise. So many parents in Phase 2B, 2C : are \"dying\" to enrol their daughters into MGS (BT) ! What more, when you yourself possess 2A2 advantage (privilege) ? Utilize your benefit, to the fullest ! -
Thank you so much, once again, for your valuable suggestions, phtthp! Appreciate lots!!

If Waterway doesn’t have K2 MK pupils. Definitely a safe bet for P2C. Doubt there will be balloting as it is one of the “back up” 2Cs school for parents aiming for MT and Horizon.floppy:

My kid didn’t have the 2A2 priority for PV but luckily for her classmates, balloting occur only for 1-2km last year (a number of her classmates, as well as my daughter, chose other schools). Doubt this year would be so lucky. Most likely back to ballot within 1km. If you can stomach the risk, may be worthwhile to give it a go. There should be a number of schools in Punggol with vacancies left for 2Cs. -

Balloting for your daughter & classmates was for 2C or other earlier phases?
