We went specifically to view Snow Monkey. It's diff activities. You might wanna read abit more abt Snow Monkey Park. I certainly doubt they'll ski with you. :rotflmao:

          Just kidding you! Do forgive.
They will stare at you while soaking in their onsen.
I recalled walking to the Park. It was quite a walk during winter and the experience is memorable.
Of course, some will say they are just a bunch of monkeys which we can find in the wild and our zoo.

My son is now crazy over Japan. He just tried for another study trip to some prefecture. he complained about the cold weather the last trip but has forgotten what he said. This time if he get to go there again, it will be 7 degrees.

                  Hi Ladies,

Very draft itineraries, may I have your comment if it's doable....
Went to Japan before we tour group, am amaze they could cover so many places but when we free and easy, seems like need so many days....

                  Day 1\tTokyo
                  Day 2\tKyoto
                  Day 3\tKyoto

Day 4\tMt Fuji (Gotemba premiun outlet)
Day 5\tSki Resort (Snowtown Yeti )
                  Day 6\tTokyo (Disney Sea)
                  Day 7\tTokyo
                  Day 8\tTokyo
Day 9\tTokyo (Home sweet home in the late afternoon)

                  Thanks
I think the above Kyoto leg will be tight, considering the earliest you arrive in Kyoto could be mid-day of Day 2, after a 2h40min Shinkansen ride from Tokyo. Check in time is 3pm, so you might have to waste some hours commuting back to Kyoto hotel after a short sightseeing in the city (after depositing your baggage first). Maybe you can rush thru Nijo Castle and Nishiki Mkt before check-in.

Bear in mind the shorter days in winter, so you can only do maybe the Gion / Pontocho district near Higashiyama (shops close at 5pm thereabts) after you've checked in? Kiyomizu-dera Temple is under renovation now.

Day 3 - you can join fast n furious tours to cover Kinkakuji; Arashiyama; Sagano and even Fushimi Inari. Or just stick around the Philosopher's Path belt.

I don't know what time you intend to depart from Kyoto on Day 3 to make it in time for your early morning tour to Mt Fuji on Day 4. If you intend to join Mt Fuji day tours, inclusive of Gotemba, I think you should leave Kyoto earlier and check-in Tokyo hotel and sleep earlier!

Why the rush to Kyoto just for 2 days and also incur the expensive Shinkansen trip?

Isn’t it better off staying in Tokyo and having a more relaxed trip? I’m sure there are enough things to fill up the 2 days, including day trip to Yokohama, extra day at Disneyland, etc.

Kyoto-Osaka can be a separate trip (there are direct flights to Osaka). No need to incur the Shinkansen to and fro.

After going up to 5th station at Mt Fuji, you must ensure your young dc have the stamina to trudge thru snow to see Snow Monkeys at Jigokudani. And that's after you wake up early to catch the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Nagano JR station (80-100min). After transferring to local bus, walking thru the snow to the monkey onsen, you will return via the same path to take bus up to Shiga Kogen ski resort to play snow mobiles and sledges for a miserable 2 hrs (you must catch the ski lift down thereafter!). Then take return Shinkansen train back to Tokyo from Nagano (another 100min).

Day 6, you then rise and shine, head towards Disney Sea before 10am opening time.

Better have a family meeting and do a body check-up on every travelling member. I know some young families can and do like to chiong, maybe yours is one of them 🙂

I agree with Zeit that yr itinerary will be very tight to try cover everything.

We visited Tjushiki mkt in Tokyo & Kuromon mkt but find Nishiki mkt a watershed, not worth the trip. We’ve been to Osaka castle but found Nino castle boring. Guess we’re just not castle lovers & we skip all the temples. Do visit the Bamboo Groove & the stretch of street shops for its festive feel & food. DH & kids found interesting subj in shooting camouflaging spiders.

Select the places based on yr priority of choices & leave this non-priorities to the end to achieve if u hv the time & energy at the end.
