Apart from last year, swee swee 20 applicants, that is normal situation for NYPS in past years.

In recent years, NY always has only 20/20 vacancy left in the 2b/2c.... why are there so many applicants in phase 1 and 2A these years?

        Any insight thought?

            1. NYPS is a premier co-ed school. Whether you give birth to a boy or a girl, the kid will definitely be eligible for Phase 1 or 2A.

            2. NYPS is the only primary with affiliation cut-off point to the IP stream (albeit for girls only); other affliated schools only get you into the O level stream.

            3. NYPS is a Brand. E.g. You don’t buy a sneaker, you buy a Nike, even though it’s the same type of stinking shoes.

2016 is lowest live birth in past few years but NY still left 40 seats only...

                      My guesses:

The more kids you have, the more \"worthwhile\" to move house, PV etc to cheong for a place?
When first kid couldn't get in, try your luck W 2nd, 3rd, 4th kid...until someone gets in?
Give birth to a few more kids since older 1 already studying there so don't waste the phase 1/2a2?

                      Alumni all flocked back?

Heng that MOE has the hindsight to reserve 20+20 slots for non-related applicants.

Actually, when the first kid don’t get in, you are generally screwed.

You may want to try your luck with kid 2, 3 or 4 but that would mean giving up Phase 1 priority as well as running the risk of kids being placed in different schools if you get screwed a second time in Phase 2CS (even if kid 2, 3 or 4 get in, there’s no guarantee that NYPS will accept the transfer of the older child).

The bottom line is don’t get fixated with a school and miss the forest for the tree.
