Stormzer:
Asking for those who also same as mine situation, i'm moving house in 2 years time and would it be better to stay put at current location and get the school and transfer when house come or to start school at new location without doing any transfer? what is the con and pro?
I'm actually rushing for the resale completion of my hdb now due to this same consideration.
After much thought, I decided to start school at new location because depending on the area, school transfer is not a guarantee. What happens if the school you want to transfer to is full? Plus I'll hate to separate my child from his friends and make him start anew in an unfamiliar environment. -

RMPS is the most highly sought after sch in that area with best results. And most of the new BTO residents at Ridgeview and Parcview, are aiming RMPS. U have been confirmed a place at 2A2 and many people are envy of u. What is the reason of u intending to withdraw? If u like a sch nearer to West coast near your place u can consider Qifa Pri which is at West coast.Dear floppy,
Thanks for your quick reply. Alternatively, I am considering CHIJ Kellock as its nearer to RMPS, so no differences in terms of traveling. What is your feeling of 2C balloting for SCs? This school is rather low profile...other than St. Theresa Convent, is this school affiliating to others convent?
Thanks! -
Keith_7272:
CHIJ Kellock is safe for SC regardless of distance. CHIJ St Theresa's Convent is the only school it is affiliated to (and also affiliated to CJC if you choose the CHIJ STC route in future).Dear floppy,

That said, if it's the same distance as RMPS, there isn't any real benefits from changing schools, apart from affiliation and being a girls' school. Given that the current COP for CHIJ STC is 234 (non-affiliated) and 200 (affiliated), I doubt there is much 'benefit' once the PSLE AL banding kicks in. -
Dear Floppy,
I have nieces that are currently studying both in RMPS and FFMPS (Queenstown) and noticed that the RMPS has much lesson and home works as compared to Fair Field, hence is affecting my decision to stay with RMPS… do you have any comments… -
Dear Floppy,
Thank you for your quick reply and valuable suggestion. I would like monitor the 2C application rates and probably make a decision on the last day if I like to make a transfer. -

TBH, I have no comments wrt lesson and homework in general. But consider this:Dear Floppy,

School gives little homework or extra lessons - parents complain.
School gives some homework and provide some extra lessons - parents complain.
School gives a lot of homework and provide a lot of extra lessons - parents complain.
School don't give a shit - parents complain.
Seriously... there is no pleasing everyone.
Besides, your daughter and your nieces are different individuals. One may be turn-off by lessons and homework, the other may relish in it. The category that your daughter falls into, may ultimately affect your decision. -

LOL
Tell me about it! And absolutely spot on.
Do what's best for your child, what you assess your child's character is, and what fits the family best (travel time, siblings, etc). -
Keith_7272:
Is your DD close to that niece who is currently in RMPS? If so, it may benefit her (adjustment purposes) to have someone familiar already there.Dear Floppy,

You know your DD’s disposition and personality best. Do u think she will enjoy the homework and challenge of the extra lessons? Or do u think she is more dreamy kind or her talents lie elsewhere, like maybe music or art? If the latter, then send to CHIJ Kellock better for her overall wellbeing and long term nuture. -
Today is 17th July. Wasn’t there computerized balloting results released by SMS this morning? Nobody received good news?
Tonight by 8pm MOE will update the vacancies for 2B and 2C. Check your school carefully. Sometimes the ballot at 2A2 eat up more seats than expected due to twins/multiples. Rare but possible. -

Hai, the phase 2b registration will start this Thursday.. anyone can tell me if coming to register morning or afternoon make a different?
it does - according to game theory.
imagine 19 out of 20 slots filled.
you go in the before the closing hours for lunch, be the 20th applicant.
the other person, 100% same situation as you, sees that 20 out of 20 slots taken.
don't dare to apply thus applying for another school.
in the end, you get your slot, the other person doesn't. (assuming that the registration closes with no more new applicants after #20)
I'm sure that are many scenarios but the above is one possibility too.
