In this case, maybe student care better.. -
Congrats to everyone who got in this year. I am looking at the studentcare options and Edugreen was full. Anyone can recommend a good centre - I wasn't very keen in Joyhouse.
I was looking for any Art CCA and was quite sad to find there's no arts club, drama club or science club. Why they never set up an arts club??

Hi, does anyone has review on edugreen and
Joyhouse?
Currently edugreen do not have any more vacancy but joyhouse still have a couple of place. I have not seen these 2 student care yet and would like to hear feedback from parents who put their boy there. My son will be P1 next year 2019.
Now is considering whether to put him in student care or take school bus home.
Can pm me if u would like to share with me more info on what u know

Dear parents of Catholic High boys,
I would like to seek your advice as to what we need to buy/prepare for my boy who will be joining the school for P1 come January :
1. School Uniform (How many sets do we need to buy)
2. Shoes (What is allowed in the school)
3. Socks (What is allowed in the school)
4. Bag (What is allowed in the school)
5. Wallet (What is the amount of pocket money required for P1 for lunch)
6. Pencil case (Do they need to bring any other stuff like color pencils, etc)
7. Water Bottle
8. Toothbrush and Toothpaste (Are these required)
9. Any other stuff that I have missed out
Really appreciate any kind advice and recommendation as this is our first time… Thank you! -
Hi! Welcome to CHS!
Hope the following will help:
1. School Uniform: lower primary can wear PE attire (top and bottom) on PE days, usually it’s twice a week. On other days, they need to wear school uniform (school tie only once a week. Term 1 wear tie on Monday, term 2 wear tie on Tuesday etc). When it’s not a school tie day but they need to wear school uniform, they either wear the uniform shirt with the brass buttons or the CHS family polo tee (which is sold every June / July period). Bottom will be the same short uniform pants. Thus, i suggest 2 sets of PE attire and two sets of uniform and one tie (depending on how diligent you wash clothing). When mid year comes, recommend you to purchase the CHS family polo. It’s comfy as compared to the normal uniform shirt. Btw, names tags will be purchased together with school textbooks and to be sewn on all tops worn.
2. Shoes: plain white. Can be velcro or shoelaces.
3. Socks: plain white. You can buy the CHS ones from school bookshop or normal ones from outside. No issue.
4. Bag: no restriction. There’s a locker for each boy in the classroom to offload bag weight.
5. Wallet: I give $3 a day. More than enough.
6. Pencil case: normal stationary. Colour pencils needed.
7. Water Bottle: a normal one will do, I guess.
8. Toothbrush and Toothpaste: umm, unless you’ve student care? That I can’t advise.
9. Any other stuff that I have missed out: storybooks (English and Chinese). There’s reading period every morning. -
May I chip in suggestions:-
1. Daily at least 3 sharpened pencils & a light sharpener
2. Train yr child to check his color pencils & sharpen them as a habit
3. Label all textbooks, water bottles, etc with your child’s name & class identity as young kids get their stuff mixed-up, misplaced, etc.
Add a plastic or those IKEA apron or hand sleeve to prevent school uniform fr being stained with water color or acrylic paint. I don’t hv suggestions if yr child is big frame unless yr hand-sew yr own.
I’ve trained my kids to bring healthy home-made food for recess to save time fr queuing for food as they love to read or borrow books fr library or spend time at playground to stretch. -
For the polo shirt, you need not wait till June-July. They do sell leftovers at the general office all the time. You might check it up.
