All About Parent Volunteers (PV)

Dear all,
May I ask - does ACSJ and ACSP open up to PV?
If so, estimated when is this open, and how do we register interest to take part?
thanks in advance. -

The answer is no. -
Both ACSJ & ACSP do not hv programmes for PV.
It is only after your child gets a place then some parents will serve in various areas at ACSJ - Parents' Prayer grp (for mum's & for dad's); library (read up, stacking books on shelves, repair of books, English Chinese reading/games programmes; PSLE Oral support for P6s; excursion teacher assistants, etc). Last year, many mum's came together to make & contribute healthy burger-like buns esp knowing boys wld love a treat to get them nourished during recess & towards lunch-break. When boys see frds eating, they'll like to eat together for company. Whenever I make any designer cakes for library events, the boys will hang around to hv the last share so I just keep baking more so they get treats. We get some fathers who make guests appearance on Defence Day (in full army uniforms), craftwork day for diff types of airplanes & a pilot dad appeared in his gear! This is to support the belief of fathers involvement for boys' healthy devpt.
ACSP & ACSJ hv joint prayer sessions esp for P6s going into exams period.
DH says this is one good way to get genuine support fr parents for their kids' healthy devpt in sch with their peers. Do not just PV for sake of a place & disappear after securing a priority place.
Hope yr boys get a place for wholesome education at either of the schools. -
Hi parents, I posted in RGPS board but got no reply there so thought I could ask here.
I am interested in applying for RGPS PV but when I saw the form, it had several options which you are to choose to devote your PV time.
What I am curious to know is for those who have applied to RGPS PV before or were/are PVs there, what kind of a proposal are they looking for? Do I teach/instruct or just assist the teachers in the chosen options?
For example, there is an option for Creative problem solving. Do I conduct a class on this?
Thanks for the help. I understand being accepted as a PV can be a \"territorial\" thing since some schools are not easy to get in as PV. All I wanted to know are general guidance above, not how to draft or go about getting to the PV interview stage etc

Hi all,
Newbie here! I registered as a PV recently and the admin has been giving out Whatsapp messages when the events are coming up that need volunteers. My question is - does any PV from previous years have any info to share regarding what types of events you volunteer for? If the notice is given only a few days prior to the event, it’s hard for us to take annual leave and I cannot commit to the weekly one hour type events, so what are my options? Will I even have enough to make the 40 hour requirement? Thanks! -

When taking your leave
When taking your childcare leave:
•You have the full flexibility to use your leave to spend time with your child; for example, to accompany your child on the first day of school or to look after your child if you can't arrange childcare.
•You don't need to produce a medical certificate for the child.
•You should give early notice to your employer of your intention to take childcare leave.
•Both you and your employer should mutually agree on a suitable time to take your leave.
Leave is subject to your employer's approval. However, your employer is strongly encouraged to grant the leave for matters that cannot be postponed, such as child immunisation or school registration.
However, You can take Medical Leave. This one no need approval. -
Any PV from Pei Chun Public School? Able to share how many PV Pei Chun have every year? What are the tasks available and how does Pei Chun keep PV informed of any event/activities? TIA.
