And somehow every year there are the funny people >2km and PRs. Walk into this game not knowing what is happening. See wah, so many empty seats but nobody is sitting down? So I sit down lor. Eventually they are “disqualified” and out of the game.
There were some years whereby those SCs >2km got to ballot. But seriously I don't understand why PRs are still trying to join in and waste their chance elsewhere. -

PRs can still choose to go to international schools (at least the rich ones). Maybe that's why they try their luck first with the top local schools.zac's mum:

I rmbr last 3 years in my condo, those PRCs wld asks me how to get in, if I cld intro the P so they can donate or sth... I told them they cannot take donation for purpose of P1 children sch entry. They bought properties within 1km. They tried asking PV. They said they all hope kids can go in coz heard ministers come fr ACS. Some even went Cairnhill to volunteer after I told them no PVs scheme for any ACS. They'll keep trying & trying ....
Privilege of SC, I'm proud for those kids who get priority as SCs. :imcool: -

It’s no more easy to get SC. Even to apply for PR, unless specific national needs of professionals, investments must be tied up with funds in banks as well as partner local companies which hv plans to expand into countries investor hv bz. In other words, if any PR applicants hv no bz presence in their home country & not sort after talent, it’s harder these days. Had more PRC neighbours who had difficulties since 2013.
After their kids get into a good Spore school, DC had a few peers who had sold their properties & move to a 3rd country for better opportunities in terms of scholarships & pursuing studies of choice. Spore base edn is always recognized for its quality. Spore became a springboard. -
Hi - can anyone share insight in the appeal / waitlist process? For ACSP and ACJS?
I did call ACJS to clarify but I still wasn’t clear. They said it’s on a first-come-first-served basis and we can find the application form online. And they also said "Yes" when I asked if I may get onto the waitlist immediately after 2B.
However when I later found the appeal application form online, it requires historical results information, which are obviously not applicable to my preschooler. Plus it states "places are not allotted on a first-come-first-served basis" and "applications are valid only for the current calendar year of application."
Confused! -

Short answer: the form on their website is for Transfer students (P1 and older). For pre-P1 waitlist cases, I believe you need to ask personally at the General Office. -
I was at ACJS. Actually I went both schools on last day afternoon session, though I’ve already registered at JS on day 1. But I still went there in case I need to change my option. The last few parents who registered at JS at late afternoon knew that there are few more vacancies at PS, but they still went ahead to cause the balloting at JS. Not sure why they want to do that. PS places are not filled for 1km until very last min near closing. Whereas JS before 4, already all filled up. This year, preference mostly at Junior, which is different from other years where people swing to JS only because PS is filled.

Why is it that this year the preference seems to be for junior over primary? Did something change?

Maybe Mrs Chaillan’s good reputation and effect on the school is spreading. Ask around and you will know.
