Dear All,

Wish You can help to enlighten me for the DSA process in Dunman High School through International Dance CCA.
Does anybody know historically what is the chance to get through DHS DSA through dance cca?
What are the steps for the selection process?

Thank You very much for Your help.

Rgds,

Rudy

Can anyone enlighten me what are the options for scenarios below:

1) At Yr 3 in DHS, student realized really cannot cope with IP.
2) At Yr 4 or Yr 5 in DHS, student decided not to continue IP. Can they go Poly, without an O level cert?

Thank you!

Hi,
DHS does have an O Level class in Y3/4 for students who may not be coping so well with IP, so for (1) I think they can just transfer to the O Level class after Y2/3.

For (2), I do know of people from DHS who transferred to poly, but I'm not sure what route they took (those that I know of are in the IP stream, not the O Level class)

For (2) IP students can apply for polytechnic via direct admission exercise using their Year 4 results - deemed equivalent to 'O' level results by local institutions.

Following is from NP's website but criteria should be the same for the rest:
https://www.np.edu.sg/ADMISSIONS/Pages/default.aspx
Direct Admissions Exercise (DAE) for Integrated Programme Student
The Direct Admissions Exercise (DAE) is administered by Ngee Ann Polytechnic to allow applicants whose qualification types are ineligible under JAE and JPAE to apply for admission to our full-time diploma courses.

1. Can I apply?
To be considered for our 3-year full-time diploma courses, you should have completed Integrated Programme (IP) Year 4 (or Sec 4 equivalent) in Singapore. Admission will be based on your IP Year 4 results. Eligibility is similar to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE โ€˜Oโ€™ Level. Please check individual course pages if you meet the minimum entry requirements, including medical requirements.
Thank you, a13313 and mum_sugoku! Glad to know that there are options still available should IP doesn't work out!

Had been pondering over which route (O level or IP). DC also cannot decide after see a mix of comments in forum. But DC seem to quite like DHS, but when asked what is it that DC like, DC can't really tell. :scratchhead:

Any latest insights of the school culture, learning environment, staff, students, how the school & students help weaker students, etc. would be very much appreciated!

Hi,

My child just got CO under dsa language.
What does he have to commit to if he takes up the offer? What if he doesnt do well in the commitment, will he be kicked out of the school? Thanks in advance.

Won't.. DSA students will be treated the same way as those admitted via t-score.

hip hip hurray ! At long last, finally !

2019 new changes

Dunman High & River Valley High finally at last start taking in O-level students, for their A-level in Year (5 and 6).

From today onwards (going forward) -

a)

lets call this school, \"Dunman Junior College\" , no longer just merely being a High school.

b)

no more so called miserable \"on-demand\" one, single O-level class, comprising a very small pool of candidates.
But, going forward, will open several full-fledged O-level classes.

goody, goody GREAT news reported !

HI, does that mean they are going to take in this years' 'O' level students?

I donโ€™t think they have announced that they will become a dual-track school with both O level and IP track right from Sec 1 onwards, so part b) may not be correct. Not at this moment at least.
