      Dear all

Is there a centre that only teaches English (no other subjects) that has separate English Creative writing and English Paper 2 class. Besides The Alternative Story, i can’t think of any other.

If you go up one level on this forum, under English, many of the centers with β€œWriting” in their names have Paper 2 classes too. I think they started off as writing centers then added English Paper 2 classes.

Hello.. my child is in Primary 1. Need help on your feedback..

          1. L Central
          2. Lorna Whiston (English enrichment)
          3. British Council

In general, looking for long term, where my child can continue until Primary 6, PSLE.

I think if you are looking for a centre where your child can continue till PSLE, then the centres you mentioned may not be the most applicable.
L Central is known more for preschoolers, for those who need to learn reading.
Lorna Whiston and British Council are good more for enrichment, Lorna Whiston is good for speech and drama and British Council (not so sure what is their strength) but they are not really geared for the local PSLE and local English system. Hence I would say they are more for enrichment. Good to have (may get your child interested in English) but not centres that you will expect will help your child to show results in their school papers.

For centres that are more geared for our local system and will help for primary school English, I would suggest the following:
              - Learning Point
              - The Alternative Story
              - Learning Lab
              - The Write Connection

Out of the 4 centres, I have gone down to 3 to take a look at their materials, I chose The Alternative Story in the end as I feel their methods and teaching seems structured and well thought through. My child also liked the trial lesson. It is not that the rest are not good, it's just which centre is more suitable for your child. But I would recommend you going down to the above centres rather then LCentral, British Council and Lorna Whiston if you're looking for a centre that can bring your child all the way to P6.

:)) they have oral and critical thinking for P2 and above..for P1, it is more focused on grammar, vocab, comprehension and compo. Can ask them to explain about their 4 stage compo teaching.
