Hi, may i know for those students who had join the Einstein Club while in P5, what type of activities will they be involved in with the school? Is it time consuming? And by joining the Einstein Club, do they stand a higher chance of getting into NUSH via DSA?

My son was not offered a place in the Einstein Club, but he has achieved Gold in the recent NMOS and Silver in last year NMOS. Will he stand a chance if we were to write in to the school.

        Thks.

I know that those invited for IMSO Phase 1 training has been informed since 27th July but I thought the medal status of the rest of the students would only be known on 15th Aug. Your son's school has informed you?

I think you can try writing in as it is stated on the Einstein Club website that you can always apply if you are interested 😄

Yes, heard this year IMSO is starting earlier because it will be in September in China. Last time, it is usually in November, so it’s quite tight for this year. For IMSO, the top 20 PR or citizen will be selected to attend the training with 12 selected and undergo further training. Einstein Club is top 30 (everyone with ranking).

Einstein club usually do small experiments (like making ice cream, CSI, etc), robotics, and etc, and is on normal school day like 3-5pm, so you will have to arrange your own logistics and coordinate with the primary school. My understanding is that Einstein club member are exempted from paying the DSA fee, not aware if they have any advantages in the DSA process.

Seems like a fun and interesting pgm. Do u know if the pgm is conducted on a regular basis, like every week? N I supposed the pgm will stretch into the P6 year? I m asking as I am slightly concern of the level of commitment needed since P6 is always a crucial year.

Usually a schedule is provided in Mar/Apr, and it is up to the student to enroll in it. There is no minimum activities to participate. There are also other activities like robotics which could be like 6 weekly sessions, for this, the kid is expected to attend all the session if they enroll to it. There are also some talks (eg. by Nobel Prize Winner and etc). Most of the activities for those who qualified into the program this year, will take place next year. Also every year, the activities organized are quite different.

Wondering if any existing parents could help. Heard about all the benefit of acceleration and individualize program, and example given for some of the top students during the preview session. Wondering is this only available to maybe the top 10% of the cohort (or it is for everyone).

I believe the parents of those in the top 10% will be very happy with the school. But trying to hear more from the mid or average students… what is it like? do they enjoy the school? Does the school still support them on individualized studies plan and etc? Do they have the opportunity, for example, to go to MIT and etc?

                      Thanks in advance

                        Hi abhcbl,
Going to MIT! It is the Centre of Education Excellence Research Science Institute program offer under MOE OSAP. Every year, think max, 6 Singaporean are given the chance, NUSH year 5 / JC 1 students. It is a 6 weeks program between end June to 1st week August. It is a fully paid/sponsored. For for NUSH students, they still need to complete all the term assignments/ tests and examinations even they attend the program. Can be very demanding for NUSH students if they take 2 honours. However the program is very beneficial, students get the chance to dine with Nobel Laureate /CEO of top companies, attached to research program of their choice if RSI can match up the students choice in Boston area. Attend lectures by eminent professors and senior company executives.

All those who apply for the program have to be screened and interviewed by MOE.

Hope this give you any insight.
