If you were to consider the below 3 Schools which one is better?

Bendeemer Primary
Farrer park Primary
Stamford Primary

Farrer Park
Stamford
Bendemeer

Why don't you look at the school's achievements and CCAs? It's important because some schools don't support/participate in certain national level competitions or offer certain DSA-useful activities. 'Useful' as in for your kid. Could otherwise be useful to other pupils who have an interest/talent/aptitude in that school's fixed menu of CCAs/competitions.

E.g. Farrer is strong in Dance and has been getting Distinction in SYF. The rest are Accomplishment. So if your kid cannot dance, then...

Thanks for your advice. I also see the Farrer Park is surrounded by Condos while Bendeemer is surrounded by HDB. Bendeemer has a higher up rate might be due to Hong Wen only takes in chinese.
We were also considering Bendeemer and Farrer Park previously, and between the two, our preference was towards Farrer Park. We briefly drove by both schools to see as much as we could and we found the Farrer Park premises newer and more spacious. But it's true that there's construction work taking place around that area. We also considered the CCAs listed on both school websites and noticed that Bendeemer offers very few CCAs, while Farrer Park seems to have a more holistic approach. We didn't have much insight on academic performance nor attitudes of the teachers.

Also, on a personal level, DH's best friend is an old Bendeemer boy and he refused to send his children there. He personally feels it's not a great school so he put himself through the Phase 2C anxiety instead of going the easy way of alumni just to place his daughter elsewhere.

These may just be very superficial reasons for us having a preference for Farrer Park over Bendeemer even though the latter is much closer to our home...

Anyone has advise on the following schools? All 1-2km, SC. We don't have <1km choice anymore.

Zhonghua
Townsville
Cedar
First Toa Payoh
Guangyang

We only have direct bus to Townsville. Is the school ok?
If you only have direct bus to Townsville, it would be the one that makes the most sense for you to apply to. Go for it.

Hi all, I’m a bit sotong. Can share with me - is it possible for me to ask school to let me know the latest registration statistics when I go register i.e. how many SC within 1 km, within 1-2k?

I’m within 1km for AMK Pri but I hope can get into Mayflower which is 1-2km for me so kinda worried about my chance. Thank you all in advance.

I'd encourage you to look at the MOE list of 'musical chairs' in which well-regarded Principals from well-regarded schools with proven track record are rotated to under-subscribed schools. You can look at 2016 and 2017 will do as their term is usually for 5 years.

https://www.moe.gov.sg/docs/default-source/document/media/press/2016/appointment-and-posting-of-principals-annex-a.pdf

https://www.moe.gov.sg/docs/default-source/document/media/press/2017/annex---appointment-and-posting-of-principals-2017.pdf

For instance, the former P of NYPS is now helming Qihua Primary which has many vacancies left. Some scholars/high flyers from MOE HQ could also be posted to neighbourhood schools, e.g. Townsville Primary which also has many vacancies.

Some Ps from branded schools may bring along their wealth of experience/best practices (tested & proven in top schools)/network (vendors, consultants) to the newer/less popular schools. You may see some new programmes introduced, new rules, new opportunities (e.g. maybe P says let's groom some teachers in a niche area and take part in some national competition) which the previous P was not keen to take on.

Scholars/high flyers from HQ must be super proactive change agents, and many want to leave a track record/legacy before the next promotion.

Some Ps are less proactive as they don't want to rock the boat too much.

Yeah, I second that.

Have a look at their students’ achievements, seems quite impressive and broad-ranged: http://townsvillepri.moe.edu.sg/students-life/students-achievements

If u notice the names of the students, seems like the bulk are Singaporean kids and racial mix seems in the same proportion as general SG population.

Yes you can. Just tell them your concern: that you are 1-2km from Mayflower and very worried that u will not have a chance. Give your best worried & in tears face. I’m sure they will understand.

In my experience, if u explain nicely with a valid reason, they will reveal the breakdown. But they don’t entertain kaypoh or rude asking style.

When I went down in person to the schools to register for Phase 2C, some schools do not reveal the exact numbers, but minimally all will tell you eg. 1-2km will require balloting (means all within 1km can get in) etc . Most of the schools however, are very willing to share the breakdown of the SC/PR by distance against the number of available vacancies so parents can have a clearer picture of your odds if balloting is required.
I guess it would be the same during Phase 2C(S).

Best of luck!

Depends on: You like to ballot or don’t like to ballot?

Sorry, but SK area got super a lot of Dragon kids. A lot of overflow from 2C.

* Fern Green 60 seats
* Anchor Green 100 seats
* Seng Kang 135 seats

U like to ballot, apply FG. If fail, maybe get posted to SK or Punggol area.
Don’t like to ballot, apply SK safer. Provided don’t have 135 applicants <1km.

I'm curious.

Listed above are all SK schools but yet BrieBee stated no Pri School < 1km left. Can't think of many, if any, estates / housing developments that fit that profile - the only likely place that I can triangulate is a few blocks / plots near Buangkok / YCK. However, that would mean YCKPS is within 1km (115 places left) and would be a wiser choice than the above 3 schools (due to super high demand within 1km from SK).
