2018 P1 registration exercise for 2019 intake
-
I give u my 2 cents for 1 of the school’s listed: Cedar Primary. I have a bit of insight for this school only.
Basically MOE closed down MacPherson Primary and merged it’s students into Cedar Primary. For this year’s P1 intake, places were also bumped to 180 from 120.
My conjecture is that some parents of existing students for Originally MacPherson but became Cedar Primary decided to give up their phase 1 place when belatedly they realised that Canossa Convent is now co-ed Canossa Catholic and they are within 1km or walking distance travel and confirmed getting in for phase 2CS told themselves to go for Canossa instead for the benefit of their younger kid and arguably more sleep for themselves rather than follow elder kid to Cedar which may be further than 2km away.
The shift affected my backup choices for 2C and 2CS, so I am in tuned for this school. -

Based on the list of https://www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/primary-one-registration/vacancies, and https://www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/primary-one-registration/balloting, it's hard to invalidate MOE's claim that there are more than enough places to go around (for SCs at least). Those who managed to secure a place in your 2CS school, congrats! You can finally relax and go celebrate this weekend.
Those who be undergoing balloting, good luck for your SMS result on 21 August!
I do not know if MOE will update the schools with vacancies left (and exactly how many seats left) on 21 August. But if anyone needs the calculation in order to make their 3 choices, just shoot me a request here. I have the records.
While it may not be everyone's favourite school, or a stone throw away, the schools with vacancies left at the end of Phase 2CS are dotted around the island and, apart from Bukit Timah (which I have no sympathy - given that BTPS is balloting for SC > 2km, I assume that there are other alternatives that applicants are not considering), found in nearly every estate (i.e. should still be within 2km for most people). -
Bukit Timah Road is smack right in the centre of Singapore. Anywhere is accessible for them

Yes, for parents who need to rush to their workplace early after dropping the kids at school. Near home may not be feasible for everyone. Imagine u walk your kids fo school at 7:15am, it’s almost impossible to reach your workplace at 8am downtown. And especially if u stay near, school bus tend to pick u later. Let alone to say taking the school bus if u r just a few block away -

Duh. Yes. This was yesterday’s news.
