last dec, our BA flight got cancelled last min cos of snow. Finally rebooked on Qatar. Have to say Qatar planes comfy, food good and they still got gifts for the kids. BA in comparison sucked big time - response, customer service and also food options.

Did you have to stopover in Doha? How's the airport facilities? My hb is more concerned about the spat between Qatar and the rest of the Arab countries.

All QR flights go via DOH. Unless your husband is flying the plane, there is no reason for him to worry about the spat between Qatar and the rest of the Arab world. There may be delays here and there, but that's common in all major air hubs in the world.

Hamad International Airport may not be the same as Changi Airport - but it's still one of nine certified 5-star airports in the world!

I took QR to Edinburgh via DOH. No delay when going to Edinburgh. No issue with the 4-country blockade. Very nice airport.

DOH to DUS is using A350-900. New, spacious. Small kids don't need much leg room.

Hiaweh: Have you checked the arrival time at DOH from SIN via QR? I think it's about quarter to 0100h. The QR connecting flight from DOH to DUS is 0200h DOH time, so can your younger kids tolerate the disruption? You will arrive at 7+am in DUS.

But from LHR - DOH, we encountered a flight delay. It's London's fault, nothing to do with the blockade. Upon arrival at DOH, QR staff were there with the placards at the gate waiting for us. Staff escorted my family immediately to our connecting flight to SIN. Even more surprised to see 4 pieces of my baggage at Changi! Efficient cargo service at DOH ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for yr insights, Zeit. We are planning to fly to Munich since my hb's biz trip is to MUC. Its easier to plan the itinerary that way. We'll still visit Dusseldorf via train.

Flight timings should be ok with about 2 hrs transit in DOH. They will be more interested in the inflight entertainment. ๐Ÿ˜„

I flew QR twice this year and am very satisfied with everything, from planes to seats, to food to service but a recent delay in London further convinced me that QR is worth recommending to others.

Our flight out of London was delayed by about 3 hours due to a medical emergency prior to arriving in London, thereby causing us to miss the connecting flight back from Doha to Singaporeโ€ฆ

Upon arrival at Doha airport, we were received by QR staff, holding placards for the passengers from various countries who have missed their connecting flights. For us, the next available back to Singapore was 12 hours away.

The QR staff provided us with new boarding passes and hotel and meal vouchers. We were then told to clear immigration and boarded a Hotel bus that took us to the Hotel a short distance away.

We checked in and had a good rest at the Hotel. Buffet lunch was provided and we were driven back to the Airport about 2 hours before our flight back to Singapore.

Hope that helps in your decision in choosing QR flights.

No, the transfer at Doha is hassle free ... meaning your luggage automatically get loaded onto your London flight. And no, you do not need to clear immigration at Doha. You are merely passing through Doha, so there is no need for immigration clearance.

You will be given the boarding passes for both legs, SIN-DOH, DOH-LHR, when you check in at Changi.

Trust me, you will enjoy the flights.

                      Hope that helps.
