Although the school starts at 7.20, I heard the morning school buses have to reach the school by 6.40-6.45 to avoid the jam along Dunearn Rd, PIE and BKE. That is why every pickup point is moved forward much earlier.

        i stay at Buangkok
        bus boarding time 11.20 a.m
        reach home - 7.15pm
heard from other friends if home not with in 2km to school the time spend in the bus will be 30-45min

Thanks Zareena, don't think our girls are in the same bus?? Is your van plying Hougang/Sengkang? Mine is a blue colour van.

Actually i am not so worried about afternoon session. It's the morning session that I am most worried about as the school bus uncle told that usually he will fetch as early as 5.40am......coupled with the fact that there is uncertainty with location of holding school in 2 years time, the timing might be even earlier..... 😢

Not too sure on the holding school sote yet, so that adds another level of complication to the decision of shifting house 😢

              Hi,

I will be registering my daughter for Primary school in 2011 and I’m thinking of Raffles Primary School. Could you please share your child’s experience studying in the school? Is it super stressful on the academic front? How’s the teachers? Does the school expect the child to know alot before P1?

              Thanks

I think basic ur child needs to know how to read before P1.

Capabilities of the child aside, compared to my friends with kids in other schools. I think Raffles is pretty moderate.

Friends saying that their kids go home with homework almost everyday and somehow they get the impression that the kids are expected to know some of the stuff even before the teachers have taught them.

DD however hardly has homework and more importantly, she is enjoying every activity in school and looks forward to going to school everyday.

It is like any school. The child already know more than what she should know before P1 if she attended pre-school. The parents usually do a lot more to ensure their child is doing ok in school.

                      Dear Parents,

Thank you for sharing, I wanted to find out more because I heard about some negative experiences. Of course I understand it very much depend on parents’ expectation and somethimes parents do add more stress to the child’s experience in school.

I’m trying to find a balance in a school that will challenge my DD’s mind but will not damage her self-esteem when she needs more help.
