      Hi moonee,

Hope your search for maid is successful. If you're going for Indonesian maid, try not to get those from Lumpong...those from Java are better. My prev maid told me Lumpong maids are rude and unrefined. I had one from Lumpong bcos there were no maids from Java...boy ! was my earlier maid so right !!!
      Hello!
My maid told me too that maids from Bandung (that part of Indon) no good ie. those naughty ones got boyfriends, create a lot of trouble etc... She said \"Central\" better. My close friend had one really troublesome maid for 1+ years almost broke up her marriage! When I mentioned to my friend, she said her maid was from that part of Indon. ie. no good. My maid told me apparently the maid agency I went to does not take maids from that part of Indon. due to bad track records. Sorry did not check up the geography but hope JanetLee and myself are talking about the same regions! šŸ˜‰

      All the best too Moonee!

Has been without maids for 5 weeks already šŸ˜„ . First time in 8 years. Felt liberated even though have to handle housework n cooking. Physically may have more work but emotionally n mentally am VERY HAPPY!!! :rahrah:
        -------------------------------------------

Same here  , I have been maidless since 21st last month, longest period ever without a maid, lots of privacy, can talk freely without having some stranger eaves dropping, thnk God they invented the washing machine! I do the housewk at my own time.. I cant cook n I dnt eat maids cooking. Considering calling tenkak svsw for a month. Though Im a sahm Im out everyday so I eat out.. Went to bkt timah agent to look for burmese, hve not confirm any yet. Nothing much to choose, theres one thats out for transfer n can speak english cos shes been 8 mths here. I realise if Im gonna take one that speak english fairly well then I might as well revert back to Indon/filip.... I decided to try one that is provincial and speak little english. Just hope that she will turn out to be obedient etc..and c whether i can groom her.[/quote]

I have a tumble dryer for years and that is of great help.

Really hope that you find a good help. šŸ™ Indo maids are generally better cooks. If possible avoid that transfer maid unless the reason of transfer is 'employer's so n so passed away so no longer need maid', otherwise ....the list of reasons n attitudes go on and on and on .....

Although Indonesians can't cook pork dishes well, they are still better cooks than Filipinos. I think 'Central' refers to Java...whether central Java or East Java, they are still more polite and refined. The misconception is Filipinos can speak English...my prev Filipino doesn't understand Eng well and half the time I am not able to communicate with her. With my Indonesian maids, they learn very fast.

My 2 Indonesian maids learnt and understand Eng and Cantonese so well that I have no freedom of speech at home. :stupid:

Tks, have decided not to take filipinas or Indons, will try burmese and hope for the best. Have taken fili and Indons for the past few years. This time Im gonna do like wat my last 3 maids told me. \"Try only! come to spore to try try\" Yah!! TRY comes with a heavy price for us. 😢 Ive been taking maids with some knowledge all this while, this time I m gonna try out one that is totally raw and out frm the village, probably slow and has no common sense and with little knowledge of english so hopefully she wont get influence by my neighbours nasty maids. I confirmed a burmese today. The agent was kind of surprise tht i wanted one that spoke little engish. Anyway im prepared for the worst, im going more for one who has good character.

I hate taking maids with many moles or worst one big mole on the face, they normally turn out quite tricky. I remember the case of the bukit merah murder and the old lady tht was smothered witha pillow, one had big and small moles on the face , the other had many moles too. Im not superstitious but just want to be safe.

Whatever it is, we all hope for the best...for a reliable maid who can help us. With a maid, go one day at a time and you will find that time passes faster and you will be happier at the end of each day.

hquek, just curious why you call your current maid \"ex-maid\"?

Sorry, ex-maid with me for 5 years. She went back, now got current maid (based at mum's place).

When I choose maids, I don't take ex-Sin, ex-Hongkong, ex-Taiwan (meaning they have ever worked these countries b4). These will ask for rocket high pay thinking they have experience.
Strangest bit about ex-SIN maids being 'worth more'. At times I wonder, except that they have been here and drank some SG water, does this tag really mean that they know what they are supposed to do and how to do it? Eg, ex-maid watched my dad cooked for 5 years, but as far as we know, she can't cook a plate of fried rice.

And she's never had to change diapers. When DS1 was newborn and maid just came, once I let her try change nappy. But she actually 'pinched' his kookoo (not being abusive, but rather to clean the area around it), I gave up and from then on, she never had to change his nappy; or DS2's ever.
