How abt RGS?[/quote]In some schools, the weaker students will be asked to take Chinese O level in Year 3, followed by HCL O levels in Year 4. Reason being if they did not take the Chinese O level at year 3, they are not allowed to take the Chinese O levels anymore and if they didn't do well for HCL O level, they have at least something to fall back on.

cca hours and days differs depends on which cca you do. Typically sports cca is 3x a week, on Mon, Tue and Thurs, irregardless if you are sports dsa or not. The commitment is the same for all once you are in the cca. They typically ends around 6pm. The more relaxing ones 1-2x a week. Wed is typically a project day, depending on what project (research studies) you do. Most go for 3rd lang on Fri, or go home early if you dont do 3rd lang.

No, they're not compulsory. In fact you have to qualify to take MEP and Special Arts Programme.

look like there's a clash of timing on Friday : ie. MEP clash with 3rd language

turn to that specific page on \"Summary of Special programmes\", found inside RGS booklet, \"Year 1 RGS students' Information\" booklet. A booklet that P6 students read up, when they join RGS Secondary 1 cohort. If not, call up school, to confirm


Friday

3rd (foreign language) at MOELC (Bishan), to learn Japanese / German / French : start from 2.30 pm to 5.45 pm (Friday)


MEP (Music Elective programme) : start from 3 pm to 6 pm (also on Friday)

Since they clash on timing :
call up RGS to ask, if they allow your daughter to take 3rd foreign language on another day (not Friday). But, this other day must also not clash with your Cca days timing, or other day where is compulsory to stay back after school.

However, bear in mind that combination of (MEP + 3rd foreign language) taken, if allowed, is pretty demanding (challenging).

I have read in some forums that RGS girls were assigned various subject assignments on the same day and asked to hand in by the following day. As such, girls end up with late nights to finish their assignments. Is this true? Parents with girls currently in RGS, are your girls given sufficient time to complete homework? Are your girls generally happy studying in RGS? What do your girls generally grouse about RGS, if any? Thank u!

RGS girls never grouse I think . My younger one is in RGS now and elder one was there before , they have tremendous likings for their school .

My daughter was from RGS but has graduated. It did happen that work handed out was due the next day, but usually it wouldn't be the huge assignments. But of course, if it happened on a day when she was already busy (CCA ending late, assignment for another subject also due, etc), then it might entail a late night. My daughter learned early to plan her time well, and she almost always managed to get to bed before 11pm. The bigger assignments were always handed out in advance and the girls had to manage their time to cope. It did happen that several assignments might have the same or very close deadlines, but she generally managed OK.

My daughter loved her time in RGS. She did grumble about the workload sometimes, but which student doesn't, in whichever school they are in? Her main grouse was that there were too many interesting things to do/try, and not enough time to try them all.
