My personal opinion (opinion, not supported by numbers) : a child who can cope well in nygh will most likely be able to cope well in rgs.

The reverse is probably true - a child who can cope well in rgs will most likely do fine in Nygh.
No two schools take in the same profile of students (whether via t score, affiliation or dsa), so comparison between schools based on drop out rate is not meaningful imho.
Not just for these two schools, but between any 2 schools.
Actually, rgs and nygh are very different schools which have very different culture and focus, I think those are the important distinctions one should look into.
I have to declare - I am a nygh parent, so do make yr own judgement.

For NYGH, I do personally know of girls who went in at 251 and doing well enough to take 4 H2 at HCI and girls who went in at 265 but end up in O level class and then went to poly. So as you’ve said, psle score is not a 100% gauge of how well you will do in sec sch as there are many factors in life/sch interacting with the outcome. Those handful who can’t proceed to HCI would typically consist of both affiliated and non-affiliated girls enter via PSLE score and/or DSA. The P has shared before that there is no more than 20% of nygh sec 1 cohort from affiliated girls (DSA and non-DSA). My calculated guess is about 50-80 depending on cohort (including those who enter via DSA and those who meet the non-affiliated COP)?

Well, of cos there are exceptional cases where someone with a tscore of 251 can do A levels with HCI while another one with a tscore of 265 went on to O-levels. So what is the proportions of those who need to rely back to NYGH Olevel classes? 70% or 80% are the 250s?

Did the school notice that there is an emerging trend that resulted in the decision to open up O-level classes?

I recall reading a report some time back about 10 RI boys who switched to O-levels. So perhaps RGS doesn’t have O-level classes because there aren’t that many students to prompt RGS into opening one? That NYGH has to open 2 classes seems a lot (can’t say whether it’s due to the affiliated girls)

I think on another point of view, it take guts to choose RGS over NYGH because there is no O levels to fall back on.

What is the L1R5 cut off point for NYGH O level students to be accepted to HCI?

The data that is shared by mommyNg appears good but difficult to understand. Are u saying that RGS is better? Given that it seems that RGS is more popular from the above poll it may make sense.

All I wanted to say is, go for NYGH for its distinctive programmes and culture and if you align with their educational approach, but not because of their O level class (that you think you can fall back on). It is not a dual track school that has experienced Teachers teaching the O level programme compared to the other real dual track schools. It is an IP school and has is own high academic rigour. It can be stressful yet rewarding (just like any other top IP). Go in with the right attitude and expectation and enjoy your journey.
