Any idea which schools need personal statement? TIA. -
Hi! The deadline for my daughter's application for DSA for RGS is drawing near, and I would really like to know the chances of my daughter getting into RGS/NYGH. Her SA1 marks are all above 80%, however, she has not gotten back her Mathematics paper yet and that's her weakest subject.
My girl is an average-ish student (however, very linguistic) and she is currently in the Gifted Education Programme in RGPS. I would really appreciate it if anyone could give their opinion on this, and for your information, my daughter will be applying to RGS, NYGH and MGS. Additionally, she has been in the school choir since P3 and will also be using that as part of her application. Thanks!

If she gets above 80 for average and she is in GE, she goes straight to interview. in your description, her chances seem VERY high. -

Yes, however today she received her maths paper and her score was 60/100. Her Science is borderline 80 also, and the school has not added the portfolio results to the overall yet. Therefore, what I would like to know now are her possibilites of going for the GAT and still being accepted to RGS. Are there any bad impressions left on the interviewers if my girl has to take the GAT?angelee998:

why don't you just try. No harm, right? Afterall, GEP students already have a much greater chance than all of the rest of our non-GEP kids. -
Just took a peek at NYGHβs DSA online form; the form asked for P6 mid-yr exam marks; so do i enter the SA1 or combined CA1 + SA1 ?
Thanks. -

If your dd clears GAT and is called for an interview, her chances are as good as any of the others who were called for the interview without GAT. I know personally of GEPpers who had to go for GAT and then the interview. Some got accepted, some didn't. So it really depends on how she performs at the interview. -

i think most schools are only interested in the mid yr exam's results, ie. SA1Just took a peek at NYGH's DSA online form; the form asked for P6 mid-yr exam marks; so do i enter the SA1 or combined CA1 + SA1 ?

Yup, that's what my girl probably thinks also, as I don't really see her putting in effort in her work. As a result, GAT. Should I discourage her from applying thru DSA in order to get her to study hard for her PSLE? :?I don't think \"justakid\" can answer you definitively either since he is 'justakid', and neither can most of us, since anything can go either way.
