I would disagree slightly with the above comments. While there are a large number of very good & dedicated teachers, my two boys (now P5 & P2) have also had their fair share of ineffective ones. They do give a lot of asssistance to the weaker students but they still fall into the trap of many of the opportunities to participate in special activities and trips being given to those who perform better academically. This is not unique to Maris Stella.

I also don't believe that you can perform at a high level for PSLE just based on the work given by the school. I have an elder daughter who is now in Sec 2 so, based on my experience, they do still need to supplement with extra work outside of school.

I don't want to be negative but the average PSLE score for the past two years has been below the affiliated cut-off point for the secondary school. It is a great school in terms of the overall environment and most of the teachers but it still has its shortcomings.
hi, when u mean that 'the average PSLE score for the past two years has been below the affiliated cut-off point for the secondary school', that also means that there r many kids below the COP that didn't enter Maris stella high? what is the level of affiliation still from pri to sec?

If the average is below the COP then yes, that means there will be boys unable to move to the secondary school. The COP for Maris Stella is higher than many of the mission schools such as CHIJ, St. Margarets and St. Andrews which just require the child to qualify for Express with those who don't being able to join the Normal stream. Being in the Primary school is not guaranteed entry to the secondary school.

Wonder why the school came out with this passage critizing and telling our young generation how bad Singaporean are. This is a Chinese test paper for P5. This was set by HOD of chinese - Zhang Su Mei. This should not be acceptable at all. Why do our young children need to be told such things. Singaporeans have a come a long way and we do not behave this way at all

sounds critical of our own... do such passages get proof-read at all?

                        Hello everyone,

This is my maiden post and hope someone could enlighten me. Is it possible for my 2nd child to be registered under phase 2A for Primary 1, if my eldest son is studying in the MSHS despite he was from another primary school?

                        Many thanks in advance.
