Just took a peek at NYGH’s DSA online form; the form asked for P6 mid-yr exam marks; so do i enter the SA1 or combined CA1 + SA1 ?

Yes, however today she received her maths paper and her score was 60/100. Her Science is borderline 80 also, and the school has not added the portfolio results to the overall yet. Therefore, what I would like to know now are her possibilites of going for the GAT and still being accepted to RGS. Are there any bad impressions left on the interviewers if my girl has to take the GAT?

If your dd clears GAT and is called for an interview, her chances are as good as any of the others who were called for the interview without GAT. I know personally of GEPpers who had to go for GAT and then the interview. Some got accepted, some didn't. So it really depends on how she performs at the interview.

i think most schools are only interested in the mid yr exam's results, ie. SA1

why don't you just try. No harm, right? Afterall, GEP students already have a much greater chance than all of the rest of our non-GEP kids.

Yup, that's what my girl probably thinks also, as I don't really see her putting in effort in her work. As a result, GAT. Should I discourage her from applying thru DSA in order to get her to study hard for her PSLE? :?

Of course she must apply! The success rate of GEP students getting dSA offer is like at least 90%, right? Compared to like maybe at most 10% for non-GEP. (ok, i'm just pulling figures from the air, but that's just about the impression). Note; i have no gep kids.

Yah, at least if it's second child, you have some experience. My daughter is filling out application/personal statement for RGS and NYGH now, so the 'adventure' is starting... :lol:

According to my son's teacher, it is around 85% for GEPers from past statistics. But I am not very sure about the figure for main-stream.

Angelee, my son is in a similar situation like your daughter. I am encouraging him to try at least 3 schools, RI, HCI and DHS. Actually his teachers asked all the GEPers to try all the IP schools.

If the DSA is successful, it is less stressful. If not, it can be a motivation for the kid to try harder.

Fruitplus, your son is also in GEP right? There are only about 500 GEPers per year and a mix of boys and girls, so I think your son will probably be accepted. My daughter ah.... :?:
