      Hi,

Anyone’s boy got in via DSA under Innovation domain? What are the obligations to be fulfilled?

      Thanks!

my son is DSA-ed innovation last year (this year sec 1). As far as I know, he has priority booking for Maker’s Jam sessions (on Wednesdays) and in the last term (maybe a little longer, I can’t really remember), he’s has to go for Innovation Lab sessions (also on Wednesdays). These are not considered CCA, they are at the last 2 periods of the school day. Think my son mentioned that they’re supposed to (hopefully) work towards representing the school in Innovation competitions in upper sec. That’s about it I think

          Thanks fable. This helps.

Not much is mentioned on the DSA page except 6 years obligations to the Innovation Program.

Abit confused on their IP leading to A levels/ IB… what other routes do they have?

If IP means 6 yrs and continue on to SJI in the same premises but they have an A level route too, year 5-6. That admits both genders with the relevant points. If SJI boy, then will continue on with bonus point for affiliation?

If admitted to IP but don’t do well, can choose to join o level track? What happens to boys who don’t do well? Is there a track record of retaining students?

Do they expect kids to score well before they get considered for DSA? Or do they accept students with much lower scores? The criteria states need have to excellent results for p5-6. What is considered excellent?

What kind of level of sports do they take in? Only medalists in their criteria? Anyone used JSA program for DSA?

My boy is in IP Sec 1 this year, enter thru PSLE score. It was not an easy year for him with a sudden jump to 8 subjects. Most of the school notes and homework are all posted and submitted using a tablet or laptop. There is really a lot of homework and many moments he had to figure out on his own on how to do it. Sometimes, I can tell he is really stress-up. It is normal to hear that his classmates fail, particular the one coming in thru DSA. He did not do well in either in term 1 & 2 but did ok in term 3 & 4. I guess it takes time for kids in IP to get used to the momentum and learn to be independent. I just hope the rest of the journey will be more enjoyable for him.

Hi, for the friend who entered IP via DSA, was he offered to drop to O level track or continue in IP if fail? do they really accept just 200 express or look for someone with higher scores, like by judging from their P5-6 scores during interviews? i can imagine the child who entered with just slightly above 200 will struggle in the new curriculum?

I don't think someone with T-score 200 can survive in IP. The passing mark is 60 and not 50 in IP. The school has promotion criteria from year 1 to year 2. There are additional projects (group and individual) that student needs to do as part of IP program also. If someone fails to obtain all these criteria, I assume he will have to transfer to O-level track. I talked to a teacher and she said the school will identify the weak one and extra lesson will be given to help. I think the school will try to help for year 1 and 2 but coming year 3 and 4, it will really have to depend on the student motivation.
Yeah agree on COP. But SJI will also have due diligence not to choose kids with such scores for sec? Otherwise even at O level track, it can b tough..

For IP, what kind of ‘excellent results’ r they looking at? Above 80 overall for p5-6?

                    Hi,

Any parents with kids in IB Year 3 and above?

Not exactly sure how does the curriculum works? I know they have 3 core elements and need to select from the six subject groups as below.

                    Studies in language and literature
                    Language acquisition
                    Individuals and societies
                    Sciences.
                    Mathematics
                    The arts.

Does SJI offer double science from year 3 or during IB years only (i.e. Year 5 and 6)? Appreciated your feedbacks... thanks 🙂

My boy obtained 2A* and 2A (T-score > 256). I think last year the IP cut-off is 253. In P5/6, my boy science and math are quite strong, normally score > 90. Chinese > 85 and English > 75.[/quote] :thankyou: ur son's results r good! he didn't take HMT?

Basically Integrated Program (IP) means 6 years with SJI (yes same premise), do not need to take \"O\" levels. After end of 6 years, this will lead to \"IB\" Diploma (different from \"A\" level). SJI IB in Yr 5 & Yr 6 (equivalent to \"JC\") starts to accept girls. No bonus/affiliation points - from PSLE to SJI IP or from O to SJI Yr 5 & 6 IB course.
