Teaching Chinese at Home

For those who are thinking of using a freight forwarder, please do your research very carefully. One spree organizer encountered the unfortunate case of the freight forwarder sending the books to Taiwan instead of Singapore. That organizer has to use her own money to pay back all the people who joined her spree.
Personally I don’t mind paying the direct shipping charges from dangdang, because I like the freedom of being able to order anytime I like. The minimum order is only RMB 100. -

Tamarind, only beginner series of the Basic 500 (i.e. 1st 100 words) are available in S'pore. I think that 100 words will not prepare a child for P1 CL2 right? The 基础汉字500 books are back in stock at Popular !
Read my blog for more information :
http://tamarindvillage.blogspot.com/2009/12/basic-chinese-500.html
These series of books are suitable for all parents (no need to be able to read Chinese newspapers very well). But the standard is roughly equivalent to only book 1 to 2 of the Si Wu Kuai Du series. This is my estimation only, other parents please feel free to comment.
If a child knows all the words in the 基础汉字500 series of books very well, he should be fine in P1 for CL2, though I think it is not good enough for higher Chinese. -

I mean can pass CL2 at P1, not to get 90+ marks

CL2 at P1 is quite easy to pass.

Oh... thks!! I will continue to keep a lookout then. ;D
I called Amex customer service about this before, it could take a few weeks.kids_r_innocent:
Hi hi...
I was wondering if anyone could advise if we use DBS AMEX card to pay in dangdang website, how long do we need to wait for the transacted details to be reflected on our bill.
I have placed my previous order (the website reflected that the books has been shipped out) quite some time ago but has yet to see the amount reflected in the bill.
TIA...

thanks for the recommendation, busymom! ya, the illustrations in those 绘本 storybooks are lovely.Bought some books in China last year and I can see that they are also available on dangdang. Found them to be interesting stories with a moral. The illustrations are very pretty too, not those loud or bright type, just very soothing and warm like the theme of each story. Especially like the first two books.

but it's more than 2x the price NTUC was selling.
sad that I didn't buy all the 5 books when I saw them at NTUC. super regret now.

Yes I have heard of that in my girl's primary school. If the child never learn Chinese before entering P1, or only depend on kindergarten teachers, they may fail Chinese at P1.
