The food stalls at Jalan Alor open during the night? Maybe be an issue going there in the evening bec we stay near Suria KLCC.
Yes, I think most hawker stalls open in the evening. If you are keen on nostalgic street food / hawker fare, maybe the easiest is to take a cab down (15mins drive).

Finally get to visit the newly revamped Pek Kio market. After one month of renovations, I don’t see much changes, except it felt brighter and toilets had been upgraded.

Saw my SIL & BIL and had breakfast with them. SIL told me it is a must to go for massage/manicure/ pedicure/perm or colour hair etc. before I come back from KSL hor. These services are 1/3 of Singapore prices.

Then met another 3 groups of friends while marketing. 今天不知什么好日子, took me a few hours to come home from market :faint:

Pek Kio finally renovated without much change? That’s sad. I was hoping to see some changes to that old market.

Ya lor! I actually spent a fair bit of time to examine if they change the floor tiles. :? Still looked original to me. The tables and chairs also original.

Then why they need to close down the whole market for 1 whole month hor? Some said change cables, that I can’t tell. 😂

PK market’s cooked food’s and groceries’ prices are much lower than the nearby Whampo market. Cleanliness level is also higher too.

likely upgraded the lightings to LED or some energy savings lights and major cleaning of drainage pipes.

better not anyhow replaced floor tiles or tables/chairs, else invites criticisms about Govt wasting tax payers’ money.

Probably also changed all the old electrical cables in case short circuit and cause fire

These days, I don't mind anyone bumping into me as I am, nor will I be judgmental abt others' attire. True frds come fr the pleasure of shared experience - explore the changes, yearning for the usual flavours of local stalls, appreciating a local common place to meetup.

Ya, must admit if I were in my young adult days, I used to ensure I doll up anywhere I go. Used to wear stilettos for work & dates. Pretty sandals even only to hawker centers. But as I grow hopefully 'wiser' I'm more at ease with myself. So, so long as I'm not indecently dressed, I love to meet ano fellow frd in a down-to-earth context. Now I find dolling up too pretentious. I just ensure I'm not in tattered clothes nor present myself indecently, shld be OK bah. It's also how you carry yourself. Be yourself. Be genuine. Love company & open abt sharing life. Cest la vie!
