er, I think I understand what u mean now. registration to a church means you are a member to that church. but, what i dun understand is, is there any catholic church which is affiliated with MSPS? if not, then why do we need to register with a church? :?
what i heard is if the parish is near the school, you might want to check if they are able to recommend. some friends who goes to OLPS / Holy Fam in Katong got their kids in KC and St Stephen's.... i guess we just gotta try all means...
strange, cos when i switched parish, i went to the office and was just chatting with them telling them i am new to the church, they asked me to fill up a form saying is for registration??!! hmmm... i didnt ask cos i thought that is normal...beachotel:

May I know how to do the registration?
I dun think so. Is there any parish church that is 'registered' with the school? I've never heard of it.
Also, Catholic dun 'registered' with any church, although you may be frequently going to that church.
I think Tulip is right about the Cert of Baptism? Will go and ask more info.

Dear Mummies,
do you hv any idea which are the churches that are affiliated to MGS?? or any medthodist church will do?? Thanks
and also, in what ways must we get involved in that church in order for the church to endorse for our child??
- just attend the weekly service or do we hv to do some services there?? -- do the parents & child need to be baptised?
- will the child be \"qualified\" after attending the kindergarden or sunday playschool there??
Thanks a lot!! -

Any idea it's for which school?
Thanks.Lucky:
Yes, i have seen members who only joined 1 year and they get the recommendation letter.
stardust wrote :
Would like to know also do you need to volunteer your service to SHHK to increase your chance of getting the endorsement letter? Has anyone gotten their endorsement letter by just be a \"sleeping\" member?

I have seen letters being given to applications for Nan Chiau and Tao Nan.

I hope no one is going to become a member of any church just to get your children into a particular school. Becoming a member of a church means you have to declare that you believe in Jesus Christ as your (only) Saviour, Lord and God. You would have to declare this in front of the whole congregation. As a member of a particular church, you should be part of that church community, participating in the work of the church. In many churches, these are part of the vows.
Saying the vows without intention of keeping them is wrong.scoobydoo:
Hi angeliatay,
You would still need a letter from the church. Rest assured....it is fairly straightforward. When the time is due, the church would either announce during service or via the church newsletter that parents who plan to register their kids to a Methodist affiliated P1 school using the church 'connection' that year would have to submit their request by filling up a form. You will then receive an official endorsement from the church in the form of a letter confirming your affiliation to the church thus allowing you to apply to the school under Phase 2B. You will have to produce this letter on the day of the P1 registration.angeliatay:
Other than Tao Nan, Haig Girls, my wife and I are also considering MGS for my daughter. Would like to know what is the definition of \"endorsed\" here ? Does it mean that by simply being a member of a Methodist Church, we're \"endorsed\" and it qualifies my daughter for phase 2B or do I still require a letter of recommendation from the church ?
Are there different \"endorsement\" critieria for the different Methodist Schools ?
I doubt that there are different endorsement criteria. As long as you are a member of the Methodist church, you should have no problems obtaining the letter.
Thank you for your reply, much appreciated.
-
Hi Cardinal,
Please rest assured that I accepted Christ years before my daughter was born and I have been baptised in a Methodist church.
My question was simply to clarify on the procedures should I want to register my daughter in MGS.

regarding getting letter from SHHK, it depends on demand for the year. if a school is very popular, they will base on number of years the member has been with the organisation. I heard that last year (or 2 years back?), you needed to be member for 4 years and above if you wanted them to endorse you for Ai Tong school; but this is not so for the others.
Time is apparently the only factor they consider (according to the guy I spoke to).
FYI, for those wanting to sign up - their last membership enrolment meeting was in mid Feb. itβll either be half a year later (or maybe 1 year later to the next meeting).
