2018 P1 registration exercise for 2019 intake

IIRC, your case was kinda 'suay'. The school was never or rarely oversubscribed < 2km but it 'boom' due to the dragon year intake, resulting in a number of <1km being displaced.Dear All,
I got the long waited call from my wait listed school yesterday!! Some one withdrew and my son was offered the spot.
I was literally screaming in the office yesterday when i received the call.
Took urgent leave to make a mad dash between two schools to apply and withdraw.
I guess NOV is the month of orientation and perhaps musical chair has started!
No harm calling the school to check up every week to ask if there's any withdrawal.
I did ask before what is the basis for selecting who to give the available slot to, and the school told me home-school distance, but maybe it varies across school...
Good luck everyone!! -
floppy:
Yes floppy, your memory is damn good!!!! hahahaha. a total of 39 balloters was displaced. I was the suay one then.

I think what floppy is saying is, if your reasons are similar to the rest of those on waitlist, from the school point of view, these reasons are not considered compelling.
I know of a transfer case in P3, parents moved house from north region to another region, may be due to work, so such case may be considered compelling as the kid has to travel kms to the original school. -
Hi
I would like to find out how many people applied to SCGS under Phase 2C this year, for how many places, and whether balloting took place for those outside 1 km or even within 1 km. Any idea where I can get this info? -
It do not work on first-come-first-serve, if that is, I will be the nos 1, but is based on sch discretion who to choose. So far no drop-outs / withdrawals as of yesterday afternoon.
Admin didn’t update how many people, they just say is double digits on wait list,
Yes, it a neighbourhood school that oversubscribed by abt 100 - it is very popular one due to location proximity.
What you say is right, if there are 40-50 pax on the waitlist, I could be anywhere from no. 1 to no. 50.floppy:
An indication - are there a lot of people on the waitlist? first-come-first-serve? where do you stand? are there any drop-outs / withdrawals? Given that the neighbourhood school is oversubscribed by 100 - it must be a very popular one. Usually, in this kind of cases, a withdrawal would probably arise if someone manage to get into one of those super-popular schools that they were aiming or missed out in Phase 2A or 2B. Call, make an impression, ask politely but don't press - there could be 40-50 other parents doing the same (so imagine yourself as the admin being on the receiving end)!lowchuac2:
Hi floppy,
What do you mean call for indication of the situation?
Ya, 100 other applicants have been ballot out during P2C, let say if about 40-50pax on waitlist, how do we stand out from the rest of the applicant that is on waitlist? Exceptional who child got uniquely talent?
The next school available is about 1km away, which is a hassle for logistics to send 2 children for 2 different locations every morning and evening, if rain even worst….
This neighborhood sch is right below our block, it is too near that left us with no alternative choice to choose others.
If there are 40-50 pax on the waitlist, you could be anywhere from no. 1 to no. 50. As you are trying to transfer prior to P1 / formal school, there's no 'exceptional talent' that makes anyone a must-have student at this stage (and even you do have, I doubt it makes a difference to how the school applies their transfer policy).
If kid is in childcare instead of MOE K, you would probably have to make the necessary logistic arrangement as well. Therefore, the same reasoning may also be used by the other 40-50 pax on waitlist. What's more, given that the two schools are not very far apart, it's not a very convincing argument. What may improve the argument is if there are exigencies, e.g. caregiver / parents / children have long-term medical condition / immobile and cannot travel long distance, etc. -
[quote="lowchuac2"]Sis, how come u will know that got someone withdrawn from your wait list SCH that you put on?
Because they posted their sch whatapps link on kiasuparents so I joined. Through their conversations from their chats knew abt the insider news that the waitlist school had 2 transfer out cases last week. But the 2 slots given out to the 1 SG who was balloted out. And another slot to a PR who was also balloted out in 2C. So i guess chances is slim to b able to get a plc be4 Jan if the selection is based on giving the available slots to those who r balloted out. Which is fair. -
sannnz:
Congrats! The sch would want u to give a reply on the spot right? Else they can quickly give the slot to the next in line. Previously did u registered for that sch but was balloted out?Dear All,

At this stage, most schools would prioritize those who had applied and were balloted out in Phase 2A / 2B / 2C over applicants who did not apply for the school previously.lowchuac2:

Yes tinywings, the school called and asked if i can make it down for the admission within the next two days so of course I said 'immediately fly down\"

And yes, my son was being balloted out from the school during Phase 2C. Really thankful for the 2nd chance. -
phtthp:
Hi phtthp, I'm a newbie here. Sorry for this dumb question. If balloting occurs at 2A2 phase, is the balloting distance-priority based? I know 2B onwards it is, but not sure about 2A2 phase. Thank you.
whoever able to get into Nanyang primary last 8 left-over seats via 2A2 balloting this year : are really lucky !dg010:
NANYANG left 8 seats for 2A2 not 10.
