I am puzzled why after spending so much time on BDT, they have no idea how they perform & most importantly, improvement feedbacks?
Report book also so bare min info that i was scratching my head, not even terms weightage indicator for ease of reference. My expectation too high? -
Son just got psle result and eligible for SJI o level programme. Can anyone advice if it is possible to switch to SJI IP programme after sec 1 or sec 2? If so, what types of grades must he achieved ? Thanks

You may attend the Info talk tomorrow for the latest info. Nov 23rd. That would be the best if you got it from the school directly.

Congrats!! Its true its best to attend the info session. But as far as I know (my son just finished Sec 1) there is an opportunity to move the IB in year 3, based on results in Year 1 & 2, and the completion of some projects. We know one boy who decided to move to IB and another who was offered but decided to stay in his O level class. IB boys can also be moved to the O level track - some of his classmates did move out of his class at the end of this year. The criteria are made clear to the boys at the start of the year. -
Hi there,
My son got 242 in PSLE 2018. I was keeping the options as 1) St. Joseph's Institution 2) Swiss Cottage. I see that SJI last year cut-off was 244. If I keep SJI as option 1, what is the possibility of getting SJI? Can i make any appeal? :thankyou:
Please advise -
No harm trying.
Per my understanding, MOE does not entertain appeals if missed cut-off to Sec school. -
Not sure if anyone can elaborate more about what is bilingual diploma...
Understand in Yr 4, students do not take any MTL or HMTL O-levels exams. So what is the difference in the MTL for a Yr 5 student who took MTL vs another who took HMTL?
I am guessing is it in that HMTL pupils can choose Chinese Lit in Gp 1 (in IBDP) and Gp 2 is still a requirement to both MTL & HMTL pupils? :scratchhead:
Thanks in advance.radiantmum:
In Yr 3 & 4 IP:valtoh:
Hi,
Any parents with kids in IB Year 3 and above?
Not exactly sure how does the curriculum works? I know they have 3 core elements and need to select from the six subject groups as below.
Studies in language and literature
Language acquisition
Individuals and societies
Sciences.
Mathematics
The arts.
Does SJI offer double science from year 3 or during IB years only (i.e. Year 5 and 6)? Appreciated your feedbacks... thanks
English - Must (more like English Literature - no grammar or comprehension type of questions)
2nd language - Must (eg Chinese or Higher Chinese. No advantage choosing Higher Chinese unless you eyeing for Bilingual Diploma)
Mathematics - Must (Only 1 Maths, no E Maths or A Maths split like in JC \"A\")
Sciences - Only Pure Sciences. You can choose 3 though school strongly discourage (cos usu parents' preference). Minimum choose 2.
Humanities - Only Pure History / Geography. If you choose 3 Sciences, you need only choose 1 in this category or substitute with Arts.
Arts - Eg Music/Arts - - you can substitute with 1 Humanity.
In summary, you will need total 6 subjects - English, 2nd Language and Maths is a must.
Typical combi as I understand is 2 Sciences and 2 Humanities.
That is from memory. Best is you attend the end of Yr 2 Parents' Talk. -
