Hazeline, both RJC and HCJC are equally good. I’m not sure where you got the ranking from as MOE scrapped the ranking system in 2004. Anyway, ranking is based on a narrow set of parameters like the percentage of students who score 4 As. More important is whether the environment and CCA of the school fit your child. I remember there were some years where the COP for HCJC was better than RJC.

Hi hi, can shed more light on why HCJC is #2 and RJC is #1? I am torn between the two. My boy prefers HCI (because of more friends going there) and I'm afraid that I'm missing out something. Thank you!

Aiyo, if your son’s preference is HCI then go there lor, since most of his friends are heading there.

My girl would also want to follow her small group of close friends to the same secondary school but since most of them are Indians, and she’s going to a SAP school, it won’t happen now. Kids usually like to follow friends. 😂

@phttph, where you get your statistics from? Latest A-level results?

It doesn't really matter which school is ranked top or second. Look at what the school can offer your child (the curriculum, the opportunities for leadership and explosure etc) and whether your child sees it as an environment he will be comfortable studying in for the next 6 years.

Thanks for all the replies. Not sure abt the ranking portion. A bit blur this morning.

After going thru point by point, my girl is interested to try for NJC. She loves the idea of boarding and I heard positive reviews abt NJC from teacher friends.

I studied in DHS, and would have love for her to pick DHS. But distance and her wariness of anything too Chinese makes it impossible.

At least 1 choice is firm, tho very uncertain as she is below previous COP. Will try for MGS and SCGS too.
            :thankyou:

For online submissions of psle schools, i got timed out of the page that shows the verification form as there were issues with my printer. Does timeoue mean i hv to redo my 6 entries? I have hardcopy and softcopy of the verification form. Does it mean my submissions for the 6 schools have gotten through? Do i need to login again to see if my 6 choices are locked in? Does logging in again mean the system will think i am amending my choices when i am not? Can anyone advise? Thanks.

According to page G5 and G6 of the big book of sec schs, logging in again does not mean you are amending. You can log in again, see the VS to make sure it is submitted, And then log out.

To add onto what others posted, both RJC n HCJC are both top schools, not No 1 and No 2. The other difference is the school culture n environment/student mix.

My DS qualified for both schools after his O levels but chose HCJC. I asked him to attend both schools' Open House to get a feel before making a decision but he refused to go to RJC. Not sure why but I guess he feels more comfortable going to HCJC as he came from a SAP school.

My DD qualified for both RGS n NYGS after her PSLE but she chose to go to DHS. I think she kinda of regret later becos with her character and attitude, she will do well in both but at 12 yrs old, she wasn't sure n lacks confidence. Nevertheless, she is determined to make the best in DHS and she did very well. So I am happy for her.

I knew of a friend whose DD is not keen to go to DHS but her mum wants her to go in. In the end, this girl dropped out of IP n went to O level track in DHS not becos she is not smart but she is not interested. Kinda of sad really.

If your DD decides that she wants HCJC, then go for it. She will be the one who is going to study for the next 6 years, so best that she is happy with her choice.

                  Good Luck!!!!

Anyone knows if Anglican touch a lot of christianity in school? We are not Christian but I like the school. It seems a good school with well behaved children.

Dear Parents, we are new to the posting system and are not familiar the schools,....our son's tscore is 234, should we chose clementi town (231), which is 15min walking distance from home, or Fuhua Sec (232), which is 35 mins away by bus ? My relative said Fuhua' culture is better (chinese based) and overall ranking or perception is better than clementi town. They also said for secondary school, it is not important for the kid to be near home unlike primary school. In short, Fuhua's \"better name\" is worth the travelling time. Any knowledgeable parent on the two schools or how important is travelling time mean to a kid, please advise. Thank you so much. :thankyou:
