Students from affiliated schools get 2 bonus points when they select the affliated JC.
So I think it can be critical.
The other 2 bonus points can come from CCA or Mother Tongue. Maximum of 4 bonus points allowed.

Dear Experienced Parents
Our child would have gotten into his dream secondary school, Fairfield Methodist, if we have put him in its affiliated primary school. However, due to our ignorance of the system, we did not. The non-affiliated COP is just too high at 241 compared to 200 if affiliated. He was greatly disappointed as he got 230+.
Not to repeat the same mistake twice, can experienced parents advised whether it is also critical to go to secondary schools that are affiliated with Junior College ?
Please advise. Thank you so much.
:thankyou:
Hi
Thanks. I think this \"affiliation\" thing is not correct. The government schools have no affiliation. Once you are in an affiliated primary school, it seem you are on the \"super highway\" to secondary and junior college. Everything should be by merit. Think of the hard work put in by each child. The children of today really put in a lot of sacrifices and hard work for the PSLE. -

Just went to fuhua again and walked around the neighbourhood. Talked to residents and a student there, they all give very positive view. Thank you. :thankyou:oldman123:
Dear Parents, we are new to the posting system and are not familiar the schools,....our son's tscore is 234, should we chose clementi town (231), which is 15min walking distance from home, or Fuhua Sec (232), which is 35 mins away by bus ? My relative said Fuhua' culture is better (chinese based) and overall ranking or perception is better than clementi town. They also said for secondary school, it is not important for the kid to be near home unlike primary school. In short, Fuhua's \"better name\" is worth the travelling time. Any knowledgeable parent on the two schools or how important is travelling time mean to a kid, please advise. Thank you so much. :thankyou:
Different children have different levels of stamina and preferences. I think the travelling time does make a difference since the school hours are long (reach home 4pm-7pm). Being walking distance to the school has its advantages especially if the CCA is intensive. Some parents don't mind travelling 1h to go to a branded school but they have cars to send the kids to school or do carpooling. Ask your child since he is the one doing the travelling. See which other factors appeal. I think both schools are okay. -

RE: Clementi Town Secondary School
Dear Parents, we are new to posting system and not familar to school. Our kid tscore is 234, and we are considering clementi town (231) which is 10 min walking distance. However, my relative said Fuhua [232] is better. I have visited the open house yesterday. The only problem is that the travelling time by bus 185 and walking is 35 mins (not including waiting tome). Not alot, but would appreciate if the time and convenience saved is worth to switch to Fuhua. Thanks. :thankyou:
