Between CHIJ secondary and Anderson ,which one is better? My daughter got 247, she doesn’t know which school to choose :?:

How many Sec 1 Express stream classes are there ?

Anderson

Chij tp sec is for ij tp pri whom did not do well enough to qualify for other schools. Is just a mediocre sch with high cutoff becos most of its places filled up by feeder sch. If u can choose sch which offers pure sci only to express stream.
Becos these r the sch which have the confidence n will b able to guide the even ave students to do well. -

Not entirely true tho. My niece whom is in SNG has no tuition but got 270.
I guess yr niece is an outlier : )
Otherwise tuition wld not be a multi-million business in Singapore.
Was referring to the general cohort.
SNG is a g8 school. Definitely, given her capability, she doesn’t need tuition throughout her school life.
She will love Eunoia JC. I saw the school coming up in Bishan. The building is awesome!
Hopefully my dd2 can make it there in a 2 years. -

Was in the same dilemma : )
We chose IJ TP due to distance and their O level results. Tot it wld be better during O levels if dd2 is nearer to school. Her course is pretty demanding next year. So being able to walk to school is a definite plus. We had a preference for girls’ school too.
Anderson is very very good school too. -

When I was gg thru the sec sch selection, I read many nasty comments about IJ TP sec on this thread. My kids’ pri sch friends all had negative comments too. I tot it was rather strange. In the end, I did my research n made an objective selection based on our requirements.Chij tp sec is for ij tp pri whom did not do well enough to qualify for other schools. Whether it is pure science or combined science, it does not matter. The key is getting the A1 for that subject. My older kids have friends who did sub sci in sec school (combi of BioChem), they did H2 Bio and H2 Chem in JC. -

Tests given for the express n the normal classes are different.
The students are allocated to classes based on their PSLE scores. 1/1 has the highest PSLE scores (which yr daughter will be in) so that class is very competitive. The single sec3 triple sci class are mostly from 1/1, though 1/4 and 1/5 hv students who made it to trip sci. For the O level structured track, diligence is very important regardless of the schools they go to.
IJ has a strong emphasis on EL and Literature, they hv many programs related to these subjects.
EL is a very difficult subject subject to score at the O levels. My dd2 was not good in English before entering IJ but IJ did wonders for her in this subject.
I remembered being impressed by their HCL distinctions as well. Then I found out why, their HCL papers are super hard! Even my older two said so. -
You mentioned only 1 single Triple Science Sec 3 class opened. Heard Triple Science nowadays not popular. Double humanities & double Sciences are getting more popular.
How many students, inside this single Sec 3 Triple Science class ?
40 pupils ?
