Hi parents, I'm a P6 this year and scored 260. Is there a high chance of getting into NJC if I put it as my first choice? There are also a few things I would like to know. Is there separation between those who were in the GEP and those who were not? How are the teachers teaching there? Also how many classes are there and around what number are the class sizes? Thank you all in advance šŸ™‚

Congratulations for your great results! You should not have a problem getting into NJC if you put it first choice. There are no GEP classes, so no separation between those who were in gep and those who were not. Most of the teachers that my dd and I encountered are very nice, encouraging and dedicated. I still remembered my first PTM at NJC, I was very pleasantly surprised that the teachers I met were so humble and polite šŸ˜‚

Generally there are 8 classes, each class about 25 students, with 2 personal mentors (like form teachers) to each class.

Hi dear parents or students if NJC, we miss the open house in oct and went down yesterday after visiting RV. My Daughter scores 258 and hc distinction. Because we live in the west side so this 2 ip schools are in our considerations. We are very new Ip course. My child prefer RV because some of her friends are there and the facilities are new as compared to NJC. We are in a dilema because it is unfair to compare RV and NJC based on the appearance. We would like to know why parents or students choose NJC even though the school is old . Thanks and sorry for the long post

          Hi,

I like to find out more about the subject combination selection in year 2 & JC1, and the sports CCAs.

          (1) In year 2 and JC1, are the students allowed to choose any subject combinations or there are pre-determined ones? What are the subject combinations for year 2 and JC1?

          (2) In year 3, how many students can take triple Science (Pure Bio + Chem + Physics)?

          (3) NJC offers only Pure Science?

          (4) In JC1, triple science or double maths double maths is not offered?

          (5) For sports CCA, can anyone join or only those in the school team can join?

          Thank you!

Can someone advise me what is the school hour of NJC? Thank you. Need to consider the travelling time.

School assembly for Monday, Wednesday and Friday is 7.40am, Tuesday is 8.40am, and Thursday is 8.30am (I hope I got Tuesday & Thursday right, sometimes I got them mixed up šŸ˜“ )

              :thankyou:

                Hi Siuying,

My DD is in NJC year1 now. Thare are both bit size test and exam, final marks are calculated from combination of exam, bit size test, class participation and project, depending on subject. DD uses both text book and iPad, she told me that textbook is not required if iPad is used for e-learning.
                Dear TEA8008[list]
              • Do all NJ students need to own/purchase an iPad for learning in school ?
Does the school recommend or arrange purchase of iPads?
Can students use other tablets instead of iPad ?

What is the chance of 254 + 3 entering to NJC given the cut off was 256 last year? Is it risky and would it affect 2nd choice for RV that has 250 cut off

NJC is not a SAP school.
The HCL bonus points do not count in the COP of NJC.
Check the sec sch posting booklet pages on how a child is posted based on the choices made.
iirc there should be no impact if your child's first choice is NJC, but is not successful. Your child would be posted to the second choice, if there is still vacancy. Check the posting explanation outlined in the booklet.

The NJC website should be the more accurate source of information. It is also possible to join two CCAs (e.g., one Dance/Music. the other Clubs/Societies) from JH2/3 onwards.
