talking about SOTA, i have this curiosity in mind.

If your son or daughter qualify for any O-level or IP school, why would u want to accept SOTA DSA ? eg. you are interested in Theatre Work (drama acting). Why accept SOTA (Theatre drama) CO specialization, instead of go Victoria Junior College, who also offer Theatre drama passion (actor / actress / movie director role training, learn to handle lighting inside filming studio, audio equipment, or move the camera around for filming ) ?

What is it, that is available at SOTA, but not available at Victoria Junior College (Drama unit) ?

Is it because after SOTA, your next targeted destination (intention) is to go overseas to famous Beijing (China) Filming (Acting) Drama Academy, and is easier if you had studied at SOTA before ? And once graduated from the famous Beijing Academy, can get hired by famous Hongkong / China movie Director like Tsui Hark, etc ?
Because all SOTA students take the International Baccalaureate® (IB) programme at the end of 6 years. IB is academically rigorous and is internationally recognised for admittance into local and overseas universities. The academic curriculum is as demanding as A levels. https://www.ibo.org/programmes/diploma-programme/curriculum/

Because SOTA students are taught by instructors who are professionals in their specific artistic field eg, professional musicians, artists, dancers, writers etc. Art form is incorporated within their curriculum. There are no CCAs but there are many interest groups.

Because it has a cool & unique school building with special purpose facilities and a super long escalator. The school uniform is comfortable and casual :imcool:

I am so touched and comforted that yesterday Parents' Seminar was so well organised. Teachers are so hardworking and committed to work hand in hand with the children. Even more surprised that the Principal is so open to suggestion. Within less a day, show the Principal the Parents Gateway apps and immediately agreed to endorse using it. More importantly, the school prioritise student emotional well being and resilience before others.

This NJC Principal and Teacher and the school culture are totally different from my other twin's school.

I have a twins and both go to a different school. The other is a christian school.

So I can attest the DIFFERENCE.
I totally agree with \"siuying\" :goodpost: .

I am also a JH1 parent and I am so glad that NJ is very open and forthcoming with sharing information with parents.
They explained their approach to focus on the emotional well being, social skills, resilience, etc. rather than just academics during the formative years, as our kids transition through adolescence to adulthood in a complex world.
NJ may not have the best physical environment in terms of facilities but it has an inclusive & nurturing environment with both genders, students of all races and background.
:thankyou: NJ Management and Teachers for keeping us well informed.
:thankyou: OGLs, my child and his friends had a memorable and fun orientation last week !
Hi Siuying,

My DD is in NJC year1 now. Thare are both bit size test and exam, final marks are calculated from combination of exam, bit size test, class participation and project, depending on subject. DD uses both text book and iPad, she told me that textbook is not required if iPad is used for e-learning.

Dear TEA8008
• Do all NJ students need to own/purchase an iPad for learning in school ?
Does the school recommend or arrange purchase of iPads?
Can students use other tablets instead of iPad ?

Hi,

I just wrote to NJC last week regarding iPad, below is their reply

For Junior High 1:
•\tneed an iPad 9.7\" of 32GB at the price of $498 (quoted from https://www.apple.com/sg/shop/buy-ipad/ipad-9-7) is needed. No need to upgrade, no need 3G/4G, no need apple pencil. For keyboard, it's optional.
•\tmay purchase directly from apple education Singapore at a discounted price difference of $30 or can buy from airport (discount from GST) or any other shops available in Singapore (Challenger, iStudio or any other IT shops).
Hi yamyam
:thankyou: for sharing this information from NJC.
