you reminded me of such possible situation! Seems TJC is also popular, same level of risk. Let me rethink of it, thanks a lot !
Sorry, yymm03. My sincere apology
2018 Sec 1 MGS : the affliation Cut-off point was not 205, had been raised.
----------------------------------
phtthp, Thank you ! no worry, we went down to PLMGS Saturday for their open house and checked with teachers, you are correct that they give priority to affiliated students, so we may drop this choice.
By the way, in general, 2 points above last years COP, is it safe to get in? Fox example, last year school A with COP 250, we have 252 this year to apply this school, is it safe in general basis ? We just worry if the COP will raise by 3-4 points this year, because we have no visibility of the overall result for this year.
Any parent to share your view ? Thanks a lot ! -

Which primary school is your girl from? My girl also considering both RGS and Cedar girls. Wondering if they know each other.Cedar Girls is our first choice but she was upset and disappointed telling us the hard work she put in to PSLE to go RGS and now she cannot go . We told her about the stress etc and she says she can manage
Yes she wanted RGS but relented on NYGH after sharing with her about the Chinese culture etc..
Now we tell her we are still considering ..tough decision .
We want her to be happy for the next 6 years and not stress up -

What does 35- 45 pts mean? The minimum cut off at various courses ranges from 35 pts to 45 pts?
should be there are students entering the university with these points ... -
Hi all,
A question which I am not sure anyone knows. Does any student in RGS drop out because they cannot make it? If so, when will the school let them know and where can they go given that RGS does not have O level track.
I called the school and they say as far as they know there are no such cases. Sounds very good but still a little doubtful given things I have read online saying about 5% cannot make it.
Someone with insight to share would be good. -

Quite safe. COP will likely be the same or a little lower.

Yes we are not decisive which school to put her now . I think I confuse all of u too .
because we worry that she cannot take the stress
I think you mentioned earlier that she wanted to go to RGS, she told you that she can handle the stress, and is upset that you don't want to let her to RGS. She even said that all her efforts are wasted. If I were you, I would allow her choices unless they are ridiculous ones. She has earnt the right for some trust from you. -

Agree leh.
Firstly, she is no longer a 7 yr old where she will rely on you to pick a primary school. She is 12 and of reasonably high intellect, who probably has a mind of her own. She should be capable of knowing what she likes. Sounds like you are “convincing” her and yourself to pick a choice that isn’t what she wants.
She picks RGS, but you are somehow convincing yourself (and her?) that NYGH and CGSS are better optionslindatlc88:

Normally, I think parents know their child best, and outsider would be difficult to interfere or suggest. But as a suggestion, why not let her take responsibility of her choice / decision, given that she is clear that her preference is RGS? -
