My son's good friend & classmate got 286+3 and went to RI by DSA... The girl's score was 293+3 by the way. Its all quite amazing, but at the end of the day just numbers, right?

So MommyNg’s 285 +3 is not top scorer le.

Confirm got a 286+3 Ah Boy
And 293+3 Ah Girl.

They're damn scary lah - throw stone got 270+ / 280+ But only the boy is classmate, girl is in the next class over.

I totally agree that boys catch up at high speed.

Seems like girls on the whole did better than boys at PSLE level.

yah lor, looks like more brainy girls when they are young - more disciplined n focused - i noted this trend has been around for many years le ... i think even in sec sch, more girls perform better - BUT more boys do catch up a lot in Jc / uni - when they catch up,, the speed graph is exponential :scared:

I know this top scorer in my DC's school studied till 12 midnight

For these children, parents do not need to push; even my MS child studies on his own. As parents, we just make sure they are well-fed...

It’s not much of meaning just to look at high scores. So long as your child put in effort to work hard, we shld be proud of our kids & congratulate those who had achieved greater scores - however it’s done. I’m sceptical abt knowing too much.


In our journey, I’ve been guilty of looking over the shoulders of these high achievers with yearly awards as highest achiever in cohort for all subjects & those many consistent achievers of high grades. Then I woke up one day to resolve that I’ll be happier if my kids are a little less high scorers but are all rounders with life skills.

I was shaken when one of my kid’s peer scored high but had never really known how to relate to most other peers & adults. Very reserved & quiet. This one the mum coached personally at home. Reads voraciously but totally alienates himself fr other kids (maybe see others as not 开窍 type to mingle with). Eventually the only one amongst peers chose Raffles route.

Ano had 3 Chinese tuition to enable high >90 but no time to do anything else due to all subj with TLL, no CCAs or other interests. Mother forbade any playdates, etc. Poor kid. Heard he got more emotional in Year 1 and cld not work with teammates on projects.

Btw, both are very well fed & fat kids.

I’m happy when my kids hv a variety of interests, able to mingle with frds & learn to give & take. There again, maybe someone might think my kids are Jack (no not my chil’s name, lol) of all & special in none.
