I brought my DS to orientate him the way to school on public transport and went to RI bookstore today. The bookshop “auntie” there quite fierce, I talked to her also scared. Managed to buy 3 sets of PE T-shirts and shorts plus 1 polo T. Paid for the Year1 books as well but collection is tmr (hopefully shorter queue). Bookstore closes at 3pm. Total damage today is $300+ :moneyflies:

Why the bookshop lady so fierce? I'm helping out my sis as a proxy as they are still overseas. Can we buy some of the books only? We have some hand me downs. Not sure if the editions are outdated. Can you share the booklist? I dont think I'll have enough time to queue tomorrow. Thanks.

She only accepts cash and wanted the exact amount ($265.05). I didn’t have the exact change but I have $300 cash. Maybe that’s why she’s unhappy. She told me to buy a num lock as she said Yr1 boys need to put HP in lockers that do not come w locks. So, need to buy own locks. But I didn’t since I hv a few at home. :scared:

There’s no booklist as I just took the entire Yr 1 books (w HCL) cos I don’t have any hand me downs from RI. Maybe tmr the school will provide a booklist and parents can then pick and choose. I think tmr will be quite chaotic. Few hundreds boys and parents will descend upon the school. I was told that there will be 3 queues - uniforms, books and PE attire. Not sure true or not. Anyway since I reached the school liao, may as well buy what I can buy today.

Only high mother tongue, geography and literature books are used, others are for reference only. So even if outdated for those books, no problem at all.

But you need to buy most of the stationery, as there is ri logo

How about going to bibi and baba at Far East shopping centre to buy uniform? Will it be better?

Stationery items like school files & foolscap to be bought. Other than that, boys can buy other items etc when the need arises.

PE shirt & shorts can only be bought at school bookshop. School uniform can also be bought from Bibi & Baba at Far East Shopping Centre.

Tomorrow bibi baba is not open.
One choice is to go to ri to buy 26-28 Dec. Uniforms and books are both sold in these 3 days in school, but 2 locations. Y1s will get details tomorrow

Arh....just saw the part regarding socks... :salute:

Though any white socks will do, note that it should not be ankle socks.

Three sets of PE attire should suffice. Later there will be House t-shirt & CCA t-shirts etc. For Orientation Camp, able to wear primary school PE attire.

Bibi and Baba opening times are way more than Popular bookshop at RI (recall it's not open on Saturdays for instance). I recall going about evening time and was able to get the uniforms (few other kids and changing rooms were very free). Recall from years ago that the queue to try the uniform size was amazing, I was glad we didn't have to join that queue.
