Here are some interesting titles (also use as lower sec literature books) that your child could also read during their free time or during silent reading in school. Some of these titles are also recommended GEP reader.

Reading is the best to improve their EL and the best leisure. The kids really do not need to do so many top school papers but do read a lot. My girl did not do any assessment book and she only completed about 10 sch papers (SA1 and prelim included) but she really enjoy reading. I think this helps her get an A* in EL.


Try to cut down on the screen time and read whenever they are free. All the best to year of 2017 piggies.

If possible, invest in a kindle. My girl has been using one since P4. A basic one cost about $100+ I think but it’s good enough and super durable.


There are many free ebooks that you could download. For instance, we downloaded the whole series of Harry Potter FOC.

The advantage is if there are any words the kids do not understand, they can just tap on that word and the meaning is immediately shown. They could also save the word in the kindle word bank. Very useful and portable.

thanks mylilgirl for sharing on the Kindle and also the GEP books…any idea if those GEP books using ‘ordinary everyday’ English and quite easily ‘understandable’ by weaker students? Just that GEP students need do lots of analysis on same books?

A few titles that my girl read and enjoyed very much are ‘The Boy in Striped Pyjamas’, ‘The Giver’ and ‘The diary of Anne Frank’. Not to worry, the are easy to read and follow. She’s now reading ‘Or else, the lightning god and other stories’ as this is her lit book next year.

What kind of titled storybooks are good to read, to start training a P6 or Secondary school student, not to be afraid of failures in life, or if encounter set back / disappointment in life, learn to be resilient, bounce back ? Thank you very much, for recommendation

Lol. We have adjusted the rates so that the most you'll use is 200+(auction amount) ksp$ for any Auction. So do try your luck.
