Yes..holidays coming to an end. Have you all managed to achieve most of your planned revision so far? I foresee that once school term starts, there will hardly be time to do any self revision. I plan to leave most of that to the school, rather than having grand plans and in the end stress ourselves up with no time to carry out our own plans. More worried about orals which tend to be overlooked by schools, and not sure if we have time to prepare that adequately ourselves...

From hearsays of friends and families, most schools do practices and mock trials for oral. DC's school also provide some phrases. From my observation, my DC marks rather stagnant. Not sure if we put more effort and time will equal to increased marks. Dilemma cos must balance with other subjects and rest/play time. My DC likely to protest. I feel keeping DC positive is important.

dds say enjoy school holiday, eat, sleep and study a little bit. 2 of them came out from the bedroom last night after I slept …eat, watch tv, chat and read story books. Got to really get them sleep and wake up early.

P5 is the most difficult year in the entire 6 years of pri education. Since your kids have already survived P5, P6 will be fine. Do not get overly stressed out and the kids will do fine.

After end of school prelim, you only need to revise those mistakes, clarify the concept and kids to be reminded not to repeat them.

It is absolutely NOT NECESSARY to purchase current year top school prelim papers and start doing all over again until so burnt out for PSLE. This is the worst nightmare!

Some kids who did that got worse off results than prelim. There is no difference if your kids do current year or past year papers. The reason why we let them do prelim papers is to get a feel of the actual PSLE. Also, do note some schools set ridiculously tough papers so it is absolutely NOT a good idea to let them practice just weeks before PSLE. You and your kids will feel more stress if they can’t do certain questions. What is the point? Actual PSLE standard is reasonable and manageable, not ridiculous.

hi mylilgirl, any idea those prelim papers are different stack of exam paper to be purchased separately? I find myself quite confused…havent go the place at Bras Basah to check it out…or is this actually the same as the normal stack of P6 Top school papers?

I agree with mylilgirl that P5 is tough in the sense that there is a big drop in the SA1 results before picking back up subsequently.

P6 is a very long (but also very fast) year. Esp for those who still represent schools in competitions from Jan to Apr - it is fulfilling but the kids must able to handle the time requirements and cope with work. The teachers do go through mock tests/ past yr papers/ psle papers/ oral practice, etc. Expect a higher amount of homework as compared to the other years but do monitor your kids - every one is different, so their ability to cope with stress is also different. You know your kids best.

Pace yourselves out for the approx schedule of events:

Jan - Get back to school mode; zonal competitions begin
                Feb - Competitions, CA1, CNY
Mar - Short break to recharge/ revise
                Apr - National competitions
                May - SA1; Application for DSA (2019)
Jun - Some trials / auditions begin; School hols to recharge / revise
Jul - DSA auditions/ trials/ interviews; Prelim oral
                Aug - Prelims/ PSLE oral/ DSA results
End Sep - PSLE (till early Oct)

MrsKiasu: The stack of past yr paper is the same. What you will be buying now is the full set of 2018 past yr school papers. But just before PSLE, if they can get it, the vendors will usually sell a smaller stack of the current yr (in your case - 2019) prelim papers which only just ended in August.

                      Nooooo !!!! 😂

I've made a plan at least. First, to correct sleeping schedules after Christmas. No choice but have to minimise nap time. Parent mode on. :boogie:

I don’t mean this with any ill intent at all. But just curious. Really? I didn’t know that 11 year old kids still have afternoon naps?
