zac's mum:
I don’t mean this with any ill intent at all. But just curious. Really? I didn’t know that 11 year old kids still have afternoon naps?
Hi Zac's mum,
He doesnt nap on school days. Its not a scheduled activity or anything like that. He just like to sleep
, more so during holidays. We are ok with it, we feel its good he gets sufficient rest. But must encourage him to reduce naps since term time coming up.

Icic. Yes the rest is good. I heard many people say the extra sleep helps the kids’ bodies grow taller. So unfortunate that my kid sleeps very little.zac's mum:

Actually, when my kid doesn't have to stay back in school for training, even in this yr's p6, she still grabs an hour of nap in the afternoon. It refreshes her before she starts on her homework. So when we come back from work, homework is done so we can do some revision or clarification for an hour or so. Worked out well for her/ us. -
MrsKiasu:
Well, we buy so there's no need to print out n it's all sorted already.

Jeremy Papers are also available at some of those stalls/ carts at neighborhood malls. Also available via phone and SMS and they do free delivery too, I think. But I've always just bought it from stalls, never used the phone to order before even though they send me the SMS at the start of each year. -
Zappy:
other than the day my girl has CCA till 6pm, she will take a nap...waking up so early in the morning and after a long day in school, that power nap does refresh her to get homework done and revise a little. otherwise she will be a zombie by 7+.

I think this afternoon power nap method works well as a quick rejuvenator for “night owls” who are unfortunately forced to wake up too early (than they prefer) for school. I am one such night owl myself.
My kid, on the other hand, is a “morning lark”. Singapore’s early school hours cater perfectly to his brain, which functions optimally in the morning. But when it comes to evening time, his brain gets very fuzzy and when we tried using a tuition timing that was 5-7pm, total disaster and zoning out, with zero absorption. He has dropped his nap ever since 3 years old & I tried everything to get him to “power nap” but to no avail. Because of him we can’t even stay up on Xmas eve or watch NYE fireworks anymore…
Anyway, every kid is different, so as parents we just gotta grasp when is the most optimal study time for our own child. That’s the most efficient use of our precious time. -

Kids so take naps esp when they’re growing in their puberty years.
Maybe yr z boy is very active like mine used to keep himself awake if there’s action. Actually, he sleeps early & very discipline, just that we’ve to cooperate & not entice him to stay up. Mine is also an early lark like DH, unlike myself. Not at all a nite owl. When in Pri sch, he sleeps early ard 8-9pm but by late P5, he’ll s’times be tired & wants a nap, which I monitor so he don’t overdo. That was when he was going thro puberty. Now, he’s so tall & strong.
Let yr Zac be active & support him when he starts his puberty.
Sleep is very impt for teens. Can’t deny them needed rest coz that’s when their brains rests, reorganizes & support grow spurts. Do give them the u’stand’g coz by 16-18, they’ll not hv grow spurts anymore. For my family, reasonable rests is more impt then studies. Just do t overdo. When they’ll rested, studies will fall in place. -
