      Hi 2019 IP students,

Our St Nick Secondary pupil’s school diary (Handbook) inside contained very detailed Promotional criteria, specified at the end of (Year 1, Year 2, Year 3) IP course :-

      - the criteria to be promoted up to the next level (IP), or

      - to be Transferred across to the O-level track (if need be, in the event student cannot cope), as St Nick is a dual-track IP school.

If you have the time, you may want to go and read up the Promotional criteria (IP), found inside one of the pages, inside SNGS student’s Diary (Handbook).

Found inside the same Diary (student’s manual), are also information related to

the various types (category) of award, given to pupils at the yearly end-of-year exam in November, to All Year (1 to 4) IP and O-level students cohort (batches). May read up yourself.

Hi, how much pocket money do you give to your dd daily ? Also do we need to accompany dd to school on the first day ?

One noodle dish or rice dish costs less than $2. A piece of fruit costs less than $1.
One recess break and one lunch break.
So you can probably estimate from these info?

Also depend on what food yr daughter choose to eat inside the canteen, because some stalls are not cheap.

Count the number of days per week, where yr girl need to stay back for

          Cca,
Supplementary / High ability class lessons,
          Higher Chinese lessons,
Project meetings team discussion, with fellow group classmates,
Prefectorial meetings or duty (if any), 3rd foreign language, before leaving for lessons by bus (taxi) to MOELC (Bishan or Newton),
          etc

These will be the extra number of meals added in that she need to eat, per week, over & above the daily recess-time meal
          where she consume.

Some children also eat breakfast in the morning, because they arrived too early in the morning. And when they see their classmates or friends eat yummy breakfast, they also tag along, joined in. Breakfast, is another added costs.

heard some new changes teaching IP Science, starting 2019.

Last time, how they taught St Nick (IP) Science was, for Y1 (Year 1) Term 1 : was to teach Chemistry module, then come Y1 Term 2, teach Physics module, and come Y1 Term 3, teach Biology module, etc. That means, every Term, rotate one Science module around. to teach.

But wef 2019, heard they going to change the format (style), of teaching IP Science (Y1).

That means, within the same 2019 Term 1, they may teach 2 module concurrently together, eg. teach Physics and Chemistry together, or teach Chemistry & Biology together, or teach Bio and Physics together, or maybe even teach all 3 Science module together, within the same Y1 Term 1, something like that ... Heard there is some reason behind, why they want to change it to this way. Please go and clarify with your Y1 Science HOD, why they change to this way, as compared to the past, and also ask Tr : at the end of Term 1, what are they going to test (assess) you, in IP Science ? Has it got something to do with the IP Science projects, which you're going to work in different team ?

Is it because now in your Y1 Science (IP) project assignment, the same project may involve multi-discipline ?
That means, it require beyond standalone one remote, module knowledge, but to apply combined scientific field principles (discipline) ? That means involve eg. say, apply combined (Bio & Physics) knowledge, or apply (Bio & Chemistry) knowledge, or apply (Chemistry & Physics) knowledge, or even across all the 3 discipline, u know ... that kind of scenario ? Best, to clarify with your Y1 Science HOD.

(that was what I heard during Open house day. Hope I didn't mis-interpret, wrongly)
