I believe you also have Junyuan Primary School within the same immediate neighborhood.

Or if u really love SHPS for religious reason, maybe there’s still time to join the Anglican Church…

        Hi experts.

My wife and I were both brought up and educated overseas.

We would like to send our 3 kids (Sing citizens) to international school, but due to the high cost we plan to do so only at the secondary school age. Meaning Primary school would be Sing schools.

Given that we want an academic but well rounded "fun" good primary school (ie western style):

        1) What is the most holistic, well rounded, top boys Primary school?
        2) Same question, for girls schools? And same question for co-ed schools?
        3) How would you compare Nanyang Primary versus the 2 ACS’?
        4) How would you compare ACS Primary versus ACS Junior? Whats the main difference?

Again, we’re looking for a balance of academic rigour and well roundedness. I don’t want my kids depressed and looking down at their feet when they walk to school in the morning.

        Thanks very much experts!

You are probably an expatriate that is well-educated and aware of this environment. Some say the stress is pressure cooker-like, but its more likely the kids will shrug it off nonchalantly. That is what our education system appears to most kids in Singapore. Adults will tend to romanticise the time they spent in school.

That said, searching for a primary school in Singapore is a two-way interaction. The school may be good but you must have the right aptitude to deal with it. It is natural for us to find out more about a school we are interested in, and there are a number of ways to do so. Singapore is small enough for you to locate the schools (about 192 of them around the country) and you usually just go for the ones near your living quarters because, as the Education Ministry says, \"All schools are good schools\".

But do your Parent Volunteering of 40-80hrs with your selected schools. The reason is for the PARENTS to get to know the school before their child does. Some parents like the PV so much that they don't stop even after they have completed their assignments, and the schools will adopt them as permanent volunteers. But most parents are pragmatic and will stop as soon as they make the hours. Regardless, it is through PV that parents demonstrate their earnestness while schools get to evaluate the parents before they send their children. So while it may seem like a hassle, PV is definitely a worthwhile investment!

Wow, even for dragon year, pv outside 2km got in as well?

That's surprising! I'm outside 2km. Unsure whether to register pv. Maybe I should!

But the chances of getting a slot from PV is higher or Alumni?

Anyway what duties does PV cover?

The PV application form is available on NHPS website. The possible duties are all listed on the form.

U can apply & hope they select you. Even after you are selected, u must fulfill all the stated hours then u will qualify for phase 2B. Dragon year 2018 registration all PVs all distances successfully got their child into the school. You are <1km 包进. Provided you are chosen to PV. So just apply. Don’t miss any deadlines. If u do, you are back to square one, which is balloting.

"Hello parents, i have 2014 son and we are living in lor ah soo area. In 2 years from now he will go to primary school. I know that its based on distance, and volunteer etc to register primary school. The problem is, only 1 primary school which is Xing Hua PS around our area. But all my family and colleagues and neighbors not recommend this school for our son based on their experiences. Said that its not a good school, later my son cant follow the standard for psle etc. So another choice is Maris Stella, and Holly Innocent. But the things is all is way too far from our place, around 2-3km distance.do you think is there any way to make a bigger chance for my son to register 1 of the primary school above?

Or any other advise is welcome too (me and my husband not born in SG and never have education in SG so we dont know anything about the registering for education here, only based on google and suggestions from other peoples. But we are singaporean! )

                Thanks!

If u happen to be Catholic, you might get a chance to ballot for a seat via Phase 2B >2km for Holy Innocents/Maris Stella.

However if your son will not be taking Higher Chinese as his Mother Tongue Language, he cannot apply to Maris Stella. They only offer one MTL option.

                    Yes.
                    1. Adopt a religion.
                    2. Shift house.
                    Or even better:
                    3. Adopt a religion and shift house.

                        Hi all,

I need some advice. My daughter will be in PH 2c and we are between 1-2km for
Alexander Pri, gan eng seng, new town and zhangde. I prefer Alexander but what’s the odds of getting in? I also have Queenstown Pri being less than 1km. Thanks!
