I know it happens in Sec 3, not too sure if sec 3 can or not. We transferred school due to CCA and new housing reasons.

Most Secondary schools evaluate students at the end of Sec 2 for IP eligibility. The student must do pretty well by the end of Sec 2 to be considered.

Yes, lots of applicant hopefuls but very limited vacancies.

wow...drop quite a bit. My elder is in Sec 4 IP and my young one going in Sec 1 next year.

        2018's figure was 244 and 253.
Anyway ACSI also fluctuated at 250 and 254 compared to 2018's 249 and 256.[/quote]You meant last yr's 2017's? Was taken aback at this low IP COP despite stellar results close to ACS recent batch also.

In any case PSLE scores doesnt mean anythg at all, might hv some correlation on the top 5% as they will likely to continue to score without much efforts in academics, the rest is history. I was told 260+ stuggling with academic promotion criteria as well.

But everything else being equal, the higher quality of students tend to get better results. That is not the impressive part. The impressive part is how you get the rest of cohort to shine.

Based on the pattern of hmtl offered (some relation to tscore), there is a good spread across all 11 groups. Maybe IB classes are Gp 2, 5, 6, 11 as observed bigger number of hmtl assigned (so 1 IB class in each fraternity).

Hi, am new to this thread. Does anyone have a Sec 3 or 4 boy in SJI IB? Would like to hear whether you have any recommendation for tuition/enrichment class in English? My son’s English is a bit weak. Would like to put him in some tuition or enrichment. Most tuition centres only cater to O level or ACSI IB students. I can’t find any who teaches IB for SJI. Hope to hear from anyone. Tks!

Son just got psle result and eligible for SJI o level programme. Can anyone advice if it is possible to switch to SJI IP programme after sec 1 or sec 2? If so, what types of grades must he achieved ? Thanks

The school will share promotion criteria, including requirements to be considered for IP. Apart from marks (which are same as IP promotion criteria so quite achievable), the boys will also have to have completed a number of projects. All students will have an equal opportunity to sign up for these in the course of the school year. All the best! Enjoy the extra week off!

I have not been here for a long while ! :imcool: Yesterday, my son received his IB result and this forum came to mind as I reflected upon his 6 years in SJI. My son is the first batch of SJI IP intake from S1 (via PSLE result). He is stronger in Maths & Science and average in languages. It was not an easy decision as I have many friends asking me : IB needs very good English ? Are you going to let him take iOlevels as backup ?

Now 6 years on, SJI was the right school for him. My son had 6 wonderful years in SJI, ups and downs included. He made some good friends and we are thankfully he is one of the 67% who attained >40points.

No school is perfect but we are impressed about the school leadership team's approach to always care for the whole development of the child and strive to help each child achieve his potential. There are a few good teachers who really stood out as being passionate about their job, the school, and their students.

I personally think this is a value-added school as it took in students with Tscore of 25X and growing them to achieve comparable IB results.

Wishing all of you a pleasant journey too, with SJI !
