My DD1 said she likes Bio more but she can’t do well. Hmmm...Physics is abstract.
Usually, boys better in Physics & Maths, although some girls also strong in Physics
Don’t think need to be excellent in maths to do well in physics. Math ok, also can.
For Bio, in Year 1, learn about cells, diffusion and osmosis.... That day, DD1 said she was stunned by a question like how much food must a 50kg person eat. Now besides memorizing, must also know how to apply. -

But, once enter Junior College level (JC1 or Year 5), for Science students -
Not allowed to take Triple Science anymore, because SEAB (Sg) made us take a compulsory contrasting subject, from Arts / Humanities category. At JC1, Science students either take
- PCM (Physics, Chem, Maths), or
- BCM (Bio, Chem, Maths), plus a 4th subject from Arts side. Choosing this 4th contrasting subject, not easy -
to me, physics is like another math subject.

The compulsory science for Medicine and several other science courses is now Chemistry. But many student don't know what they want to do at university level or beyond, so it's not a bad idea to choose courses in upper sec which do not limit options at higher levels too much. One of my daughters took triple science in upper sec because she couldn't decide which to drop. A strong foundation in sciences is always an asset, and it's easier to read up and make up for not having done a humanities subject at upper sec. -

I share the same view as slmkhoo; that it's a good idea to keep your options open at upper sec level because many students do not know what they would like to study at JC or university. However not everyone's cut out for triple science. So if you know you don't have an aptitude or interest in Physics or Bio or even Chem, it's best not to take up that subject in upper sec. And as for Chem being the compulsory science, that's not always the case. Depending on the school, you can take Physics without Chem.janet88:

if can, at Upper Sec (3 and 4), it is wise to continue with Triple Sciences. Most O-level Secondary schools open one Sec 4 Triple-Science class, only a few O-level schools open 2 classes.to me, physics is like another math subject.

Reason(s)
a)
at Sec (3 and 4), many students still do not know which Science subject to drop, after O-level.
Should they drop Physics or drop Bio, in Junior College First year ?
b)
some students are caught in this situation.
They had the same score for Physics and Bio, O-level. Both subjects, also the same grade : B3.
Since achieved the same grade, they do not know between these 2 subjects, which one they stronger in.
So, should drop Physics or drop Bio, in JC ? -

Only in Sg, SEAB \"force\" us to take one contrasting Arts subject, therefore no Triple Science is allowed in any Junior College, in Year (5 and 6). Other countries, they don't enforce such funny rule.
But if u are refering to IP schools like National JC, Temasek JC, up to (Year 3 & 4) only, Yes, can still take Triple Sci. But not beyond Year 4 -
If keen on triple science in years 5 and 6, you may want to check with NUSH…they may offer
