All About Parent Volunteers (PV)
-
Hi parents,
I am Greg, a 3rd year Mass Communication student from Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
Recently, my friend told me that her father volunteered for St. Hilda’s Primary School as a security guard more than 10 years ago. As a result of his contribution to the school, both my friend and her brother was able to secure a spot in St. Hilda’s Primary School.
She did not know about this until a few years back when her mum told her.
Hearing this story really inspired me to want to shed light on the amount of effort parents put in for their children’s education.
I want to make a video which documents the contributions parent volunteers make such that their child gets into the school of their choice. Other efforts such as moving into the vicinity of the desired school or joining an affiliated organisations just so that your child gets into your desired school would also help make a compelling and heartwarming story.
If you are interested in sharing your story with me, please contact me (call,SMS,whatsapp, telegram) at +65 84321303.
Thank you. -
Can I check whether it is worth doing pv for the following school:
Hougang Pri
Rosyth
Xinmin pri
All are within 1km from my house…
I have no skill set and not sure if any of the school want me to do pv also, haha…we are no highly educated kind of parents, so…headache over this issue… -

You shouldn’t worry about the “worth it?” question now.Can I check whether it is worth doing pv for the following school:

PV is a process whereby the school has to choose you first. If you don’t get selected, you won’t have a headache. -
floppy:
don't worry un-necessarily. Just apply for PV, for those schools u are keen in.Katherinetsl:

only after the school select u for PV, then make a decision whether u still want it or prefer to go back Maha Bodhi. -
floppy:

Hi there,
Can anyone provide advice…
We are staying within 1km from HIPS and the 2C balloting in P1 2019 was unsuccessful.
We are in the waiting list and went to MP for assistance and now still in the waiting list for HIPS.
My daughter is now in Xinghua Primary School which is second nearest to us.
My question is, we are starting to inquire parent volunteer for my son (born in 2014) in order to be in phase 2B HIPS 2021 registration.
In the case if my son won the balloting in either 2B or 2C for a seat in HIPS,
what is the chances we could bring over my daughter from XHPS? -

You daughter chances of success is independent of your son's balloting.

Hence, it's entirely possible that your son will start his school in HIPS while your daughter will remain in XHPS until a vacancy arises. You will have to be prepared to run around 2 different schools. In addition, when the opportunity to transfer arises, you will have to assess whether it will be in your daughter's best interest to join HIPS given that she has to get used to a new school environment, new friends, HCL, etc. -

Hi did any parent did PV at Keming Pri? Is it a compulsory that you will get the letter after the completion of PV to secure a place in Phase 2B? Will distance within 1-2km pull down my chance for PV?

Help. No idea how to prepare the proposal for parent volunteer application. No specific skill to offer.
