I don’t think CA1 and SA1 are of much consequence actually. Some schools may set it harder and use it as a practice round to “scare” students into bucking up. What did your child’s school brief the parents? -

CA1 is a warm up, gear-up exercise (training), for SA1 (mid-year), quickly identify last-minute all weak spots (components) & try to improve as much as possible. P6 students whose schools do not conduct CA1, should also practise some CA1 papers.
SA1 is also important, for DSA purpose, if you intend to apply DSA.
When come to P6, every exam carry its own significance -

If a child fall sick, there is NO fall back to prelim score. The child will have to report to the test center with the valid MC for the chief to decide, assuming it was last minute unexpected situation. The child may be quarantined and takes the exam in a separate room or be given extra time to complete. Even if the child is down in hospital, he / she will still have to take the exam in hospital. The only time where the child would miss the exam is when he / she is so sick and bedridden in a semi-conscious / unconscious state in hospital (and if the child is in such a condition, PSLE would be the least of the parents’ concerns)..
Prelim serves no purpose other than being a practice paper. -

Prelim serves no purpose other than being a practice paper.[/quote]Ok now that u mention it, I think I recall 2 friends of mine mentioned taking exam papers in hospital while (i) having chickenpox and (ii) after appendix removal surgery.
BUT prelim results were used when Cambridge lost the O level exam papers.
Is there any possibility for PSLE papers to be lost while in transit in SG? Could be right? Transporting from school to marking site? -

That said, I would assume it’s going to be some sort of permutation between Prelim, CA and SA from the student’s school’s result to come up with an acceptable answer. Then again, they can always make the student retake the exam. However, I suspect most parents would insist on an A* since Murphy’s Law says it will always be so heng / sway that the particular paper lost will be the one that he / she should be scoring an A*, regardless of what their previous results suggest. -
Like Floppy mentioned, there isn't an automatic fallback to Prelim results. At least there's no publicly available document, even though that rumour has been going around for the longest time.
How SEAB calculates the final score isn't really transparent - even the PSLE booklet simply says \"For candidates who are not feeling well and not able to sit the examination, you have to inform your school before the examination.\"
However, there is an old document available from long ago which states that the student's performance in school is one of the considerations, together with the school recommendations.

So, the prelims may still play a part in the final score if the student is really unable to take the exams. -
To be fair, my statement "prelim serves no purpose other than being a practice paper" isn’t entirely right.
It is not 100% fall back on prelim but prelim may still form part of an assessment for the sake of t-score computation / posting consideration. -

As for the PSLE, his mother said the school has explained that they will compute his score based on his scores in Primary 5, and 6, all the way to his preliminary exams.
East Spring Primary School told TNP that the school has contacted the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB) to do the necessary follow-up request for special consideration.
A SEAB spokesman said: \"We have a process in place to give special consideration to such candidates who missed papers with valid reasons.
\"We will take into consideration the candidates' performance in the other papers and their peers' performance so that they are not disadvantaged.\" -
How to do well in PSLE Chinese Language paper 2 Section A?

This section is the easiest one to score high 50/50 but it requires a lot of study and study requires tactics.
1) You need to get the primary 5 and 6 new edition Chinese textbook, and study the words in the chapters.
You need to study the words, the writing, the hanyu pinyin, Chinese meaning, the English meaning and lastly the common word pairs of the words. Furthermore, you need to be able to form sentences with the words.
2) Study tactics one: Do only a few words everyday and by 3 months you studied 700 words.
3) study tactics 2: revise 1 or 2 words everyday and you revised 200 words in 3 months.
