I thought most schools will “recognize”/count an external sports/club CCA if the child is undergoing training 3 or 4 times a week. Please check with the school.

Yes you are right. High chance of getting in UG. Why didn't choose any? Your dd can also \"walk in judo\". Learn how to fend off unwanted physical advances, not much use in rgs though.

She made her selections but not selected by the cca she wanted.
Competition for clubs tough, even representing her pri school formerly also did not make the cut.
Sports that DD represented pri sch either taken out or not available by RGS
She did considered Judo but need to go external club for training plus she already has weekly tkd training, so no go.
If RGS can offer TKD same way as Judo might work for us. Will be joining NSG via RGS for TKD anyway

No physical advances in RGS but might have spot checks that she is not agreeable to. :offtopic:

        Lol...same thing I told DD

Your DD going TKD ??? Please share leh. Under STF??

yes, that is my understanding. 2 years ago classes seem to be by dsa domain, mix with gep girls and psle high scorers. But this is no longer the case this year.

The P often talked about how sensitive girls are and do not want any girls to feel ‘I am not in the top classes, therefore I am not as smart.’ (she said used to hear some girls saying that) Glad she is walking the talk and leading the ‘top’ schools in doing away with the streaming.

Cbk dd in rgs too? Sounds like senior student?

I think Cbk dd is in rgs.
Awesome!! :rahrah: I like the way he/she describes the school P. :rahrah:

Upside is external training is usually of better quality. Just generalizing ok. I have no idea each school each sport/club quality. But my DS school-based CCAs mostly CMI play play only (unless those niche CCA can afford to hire top coaches).

But dd got offered only ncc and girl guide, then eventually chose ncc. Aiya suan le, take it as a life skill course and move on.

Check with you, how come STF sparring dun use hands to defend or punch?

Actually can use hands, in international competition hand block and punching is used quite a lot.
STF follows the WTF rules so punching can only score if it hits a certain area on the hogu( on the chest ), not like ITF can hit the face.
If accidentally hit the head or face is DQ, so quite risky for kids to punch as their control and accuracy is not there yet.
