Hi everyone, i have a question - very newbie here.
if my boy would like to enter SJI Junior:
1. must he attend a specific catholic church? or any catholic church will do?
2. must he be a baptized catholic? (from any church?)
3. if he is baptized, does he qualify for phase 2B?
4. if he is not baptized but attends catholic church, stays within 2KM of the school, does he qualify for phase 2B or 2C?
:please: help me!
1. must he attend a specific catholic church? or any catholic church will do?
Any catholic church in Singapore.
2. must he be a baptized catholic? (from any church?)
Subjective. Some schools will need just parents baptism cert, while some schools will need parents and child. However, they will need to attend catechism classes, masses etc in school since he got in via 2B. No option to opt out.
To answer your question specifically, he can be baptised in any catholic church.
3. if he is baptized, does he qualify for phase 2B?
He qualifies for 2B to any catholic school not just SJI Junior
4. if he is not baptized but attends catholic church, stays within 2KM of the school, does he qualify for phase 2B or 2C?
He will be in 2C if he is not baptized, even though he had been attending a catholic church for the past 6 years till the time of registration. -

Hi, I have similar question as above. Would like to know if these answers applied to Methodist church school as well? Many thanks -
Interested in Methodist churches in the East
My daughter is only 2 but of course as parents, I'm planning ahead. Not just to get into MGS, but I would like her to be brought up with good Christian values and make friends at Sunday school.
We live in the East and I heard about Bedok Methodist Church & Christ Methodist Church. Are there any church around the East that is less modern? We love those traditional old-school church (think Notre Dame in Paris) and NOT something with rock music concerts, glitz and glamour. Which one should we go for?
Also the ease of becoming a member? Which church in the East is less strict in every way in order to be a member and fuss free?
Lastly, we live in the East now and intend to attend a Methodist church and be a member. But say, 1 year before registering my daughter with MGS, we intend to move within 1km of the school. So that will be like 3 years down the road. If I am an active member with the church here in the East, and then move to Blackmore area 1 year before P1 registration, who will be the one endorsing me into phase 2B1? The pastor in the East or the pastor in the church around MGS that I transfer to? How would the new pastor know how active I was in the past and believe I'm not taking advantage of the membership? If I had been a member for 2-3 years already?
Thanks very much :rahrah:
:thankyou: -
Hello everyone, my dear daughter is born in 2015.. we are staying within 1km from Maha Bodhi..As I worried that we might not be able to get into MBS at phase 2C as it’s a famous school, Is there any 2 council member from SBF can help to sponsor me to register for member..? I would really sincerely like to contribute in SBF .. your kindness will be much appreciated.. please kindly email me at [email protected] Thank you so much in advance!! :udawoman: :udaman: :thankyou:

Hi guys, my son has been baptized in an Anglican church and we are hoping to get into 2B phase for registration at St Andrews Junior. Is the baptism certificate sufficient? Or do I still require a letter from the church to be eligible?
-
@ Sfmq You’ll need to approach yr pastor or church admin to issue a letter before P1 registration starts. Do check ahead of time just to ensure the church membership registry is updated and if there are any other sub-requirements.
@ ricedoll Apparently, at BMC, there is no separate service for contemporary or traditional. In most Methodist church, you need at least a year to complete a pre-membership course (this incl those seeking transfer fr other denominations), assuming you’re able to attend weekly lessons. Hence, you might need to start 2 years ahead, in case some modules past & you hv to catch it only in the following year. Occasionally, you might find one or two Methodist church celebrating anniversary or other occasion & they might offer a one-off attendance & membership but some requires you to serve in some areas to fulfil the membership confirmation.
It does not matter which Methodist church u attend, the membership letter fr yr pastor in the NSEW enables you to register under 2B but u’re still subj to the <1km rule. So, you do not need to church hop. Just decide which one you wld like yr child to grow up in Sunday sch & as a couple to serve & attend. Settle in one church does hv the benefit of establishing good, stable relationships with Sunday sch teachers, cell grp members, yr chil’s peers, etc.
Hope covered yr queries. -
Thank u Estéema for your clarification!
You mentioned memebership letter from NSEW can get me under 2B, but what if Im super active and good track record in the East where Im living. Then 1 yr before I register my daughter for MGS, i move to the West. Then obviously makes more sense to attend a church there in the West right? So how does my new pastor in the West know how devoted and active I was in the past? Or should I ask my East church pastor to help me get into 2B? I dont understand. -
Dear all,
I will like to inquire for enrolment to Ai Tong.
Will it really help to join Hokkien Huay Kuan? My husband and I are both Hokkiens.
We stay outside 21km and I really wonder if joining THHK helps?
Thank you. -

Hi, would appreciate your inputs pls. I am a baptised catholic (baptised overseas not in a singapore church) and intend to enrol my son into a catholic school for P1 registration which I believe will be under phase 2B. I called up a few catholic schools, one of them stated that i need to get my baptism certificate endorsed by a local church in Singapore since the certificate is not from a local church while the other school did not have this requirement. I am a bit puzzled with the differing requirements 😳 just worried at the time of registration have issues and need to apply under phase2C. Thanks!
