Praying very hard for her full recovery. 🙏

Received no response fr her, but assume she’s in good hands & her family members taking good care of her & resting at home to recuperate.

the feeling is great! new place and CNY!
it must have been super busy moving and getting settled. I know that feeling...the timing is so important because the kids need to settle down before school started.

I finally have some Me time today after working the past 3 full-days at office due to a once-off training workshop. After this experience, I’m quite sure I don’t want to go back to being a FTWM.

By the time I finished my work day (~5pm), endured the slow traffic to my mum’s place, sat down to a quick dinner (lovingly prepared by my mum), played with my toddler niece and chatted with everyone, it was time to rush back home for shower & leftover homework (kiddo couldn’t complete because the reference material was at home instead of Grandma’s house!) Exhausted and fell into bed way past normal bedtime. Next morning kid sleepy and cranky, and me too.

I’m sure there are much more efficient ways to do this (which real FTWMs do), but I feel there’s just not enough bonding time with my kid. (The homework time does not count as joyful bonding!) Time just flies past while everyone is busy rushing and cranky with no down time.

Press on, there are pros and cons being a FTWM.
Here is an excellent place to distress.

I feel for you! I'm sure FTWM are more efficient in many ways, and both parents and kids will adjust if that is the normal routine for them. SAHM who do this now and again for short periods feel it more because they are always \"beginning\". I just started keeping more regular office hours (only 2.5 days a week spread over 3 days) with some increase in workload and responsibilities, and it takes some getting used to. I don't have a \"bonding time\" issue as my daughter is already in university and her hours are longer than mine, but I do feel the strain of doing housework and cooking outside my office hours, which is more tiring than working from home and multitasking, which is what I've been doing for years. Although having more interaction with colleagues can be nice, the travel time, chit chat, lunches etc make me less efficient.

My age (turning 55 in a few days) is creeping up on me - I'm sure I could have done this with more energy to spare 10 yrs ago.

                      Press on 🙂
Am turning 51 this year but still pressing on being a FTWM. Mine is Morning (starts 7.30am) or Afternoon shift (till 10.30pm). If there are big events, I need to work OT or during wkends too.
So for household chores and cooking will be real simple and minimal.

I totally agree it is not easy for ftwm, esp when one needs to work on regular hours… but one advantage, which I really like, is probably they very well trained in switching their roles/changing of hats between home and work…they more I feel so important when age is catching up…
