MOE just offers wider educational opportunities to A level students

But if like that, wouldn't they have wasted 2 years of studying A-level and after that still go Poly? Is like route one big round-about, in the end still end up in a Poly ?
They might as well have gone (enrolled) directly into Polytechnic 2 years ago, right after they had sat for their O-level, at 16 years old ?

If like that, wouldn't they have wasted $ buying Toto and 4D and after that still lose money to Singapore Pool? Is like route one big round about, in the end still lose money to Singapore Pool?

They might as well have donated their money to me right away.

Kind of agree that shld hv gone straight to poly instead of going thru 2 yrs of A level
But it is 2 yrs of learning and not playing, and it is thru these 2 years, the students realise their call is in poly and may not be U.

Easier said, than understood.

I think KSP offers enough examples if you search hard enough; there have been more than a few people that had suggested the following:
A: \"My son / daughter / nephew / niece / grandchild is not sure of what to do after O Level.\"
B: \"Go JC first. Got 2 years to figure out.\"

So the student did... and he / she figured out after 2 years that he / she didn't really like JC or the local university. His / her calling is in the polytechnic and he / she decides to head there.

I think Polytechnics and Universities have done away with this 1st year, 2nd year thingy for a long time already. The ideal of 1st year, 2nd year is merely colloquial for layman to understand; it's a modular system now.

Well, another way of seeing it...

2% to 5% (my estimates), and even as high as 3 in 10 JC students (?), aren't even offer or qualify for or even want a place in the local autonomous university.
If you are one of them, what are you going to do about it? Sulk and bitch about how unfair life is for the rest of your life?

I guess the moral of the story is:


If everyone is thinking that because your son / daughter / grandchild has entered / qualified for JC, he / she will have a happy ending, you haven’t really been paying attention.
